Be honest.
How many of you had ever heard of Nketiah before yesterday?

Heard of him, watched the Toulon Tournament last year or year before and he was in the England team with Ronnie V.Ellandback1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 4:57 pm Be honest.

Very highly rated but we are effectively his trial season as a first team player.
Its a huge risk to replace your top scorer with a loan and its cheap and not what MB wanted.

Me. He scored twice against Norwich in the League Cup two years ago, that's when I first heard of him.Ellandback1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 4:57 pm Be honest.

Indeed. 95% of these articles are just someone coming up with something without a grain of truth. Same with the rumoured shopping list, somebody invented that as at no point have Bielsa or Orta spoke to the press and named targets. It may be that Kent was on Bielsa's list but only interested as a cheap loan option, do they see him as worth anywhere near what Liverpool want, did they want him as a loan option because they were expecting to see Clarke leave and not come back on loan, was he on the shortlist also containing Harrison and Costa and it was a case of Bielsa only wanting any 2 from the list etc.
All people guessing and coming up with names and then somebody else copies the article for their website and somebody copying it from them etc and suddenly it looks like genuine interest.
Like with this keeper we have signed, did any site predict that even a couple of days ago?

Would imagine Inter want to recoup the fee they paid, supposedly £7m to £8mEllandback1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 4:34 pm I'm told Nolan is, but he is the runner up prize. Colidio is the masterpiece, hense Inter want more than the 5m Leeds are offering.

Apparently Harrison, Kent, White and Costa were the 4 players MB wanted.
Clarke was never meant to come back but when the Kent deal wasnt going anywhere the club insisted on it.
MB went to watch Kent just the other week.
Usually you can dismiss a lot of click bait but Kent has been a consistent starting with Phil Hay naming him ages ago.
Disappointed tbh nothing against Nketiah if he comes but i wanted another 10 to and dont like that the club keep going against what MB wants.

Probably about the same amount t of us who had heard of Dam James before Bielsas Spygate lecture.Ellandback1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 4:57 pm Be honest.

But I take your point, this interest has been born out of desperation over Roofe being sold.

Doesn't really matter if we've heard of them or not. I hadn't heard of Kent till he got linked.

Who'd ever heard of Spartacus before he stood up and said "I'm Spartacus"?

We have no idea what Bielsa thinks about Nketiah but until Roofe left there was no need to look at him as a signing. Bielsa probably expected Roofe to stay hence Kent would have been a target more for the winger/no 10 role. Once Roofe left the club probably had a list of potential replacements and presumably Nketiah was on that list. For all we know though Bielsa himself may have said a few weeks ago that if Roofe goes there is a lad at Arsenal that would be a good replacement.Cjay wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 5:17 pm Apparently Harrison, Kent, White and Costa were the 4 players MB wanted.

I think in any walk of life if you get 75% of what you ask for (i.e Bielsa's supposed wish list of players, White, Harrison, Costa & Kent) you probably would be quite happy.
I think with the signing of White it was done prior to the sale of PJ because Bielsa wanted White and didn't want PJ. Different situation with Roofe in that Bielsa probably wanted him to stay so didn't tell the board to sign a replacement player and then force Roofe out.

I don't get why we don't take a punt on Bojan on a six month deal with an option to extend. Sure it'll take him a couple of months to get fit, but it's a long season and we'll get injuries. He's a talented player and Bielsa could bring out the best of him.
Ignore apparently he's off to MLS, meh.
