Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
The only positive I can muster from this game is that we were poor at best and one of the better teams in the league still couldn't beat us all be it our goal took a wicked deflection.
This game is just typical of how most will be played out till the end of the season and Leeds must learn to deal with it. Sloppy half-soaked defenders are costing us heavily atm . We are the best TEAM in the league but individually we are very average and it shows .

Yeah, a good team, their two former Cork City players did well today, I think they’ll be top 6 and they did play well in fairness but we got on top and were the better team for the majority of the gamemothbanquet wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 7:14 pm They are and it's easy to forget that they've had a good run of results lately to turn around a slump of their own. Hopefully we can turn the draw into a win next time.

Roberts/Shackleton, no way will they bring someone in, unless they offer Bielsa somebody top quality he’ll say he’s happy with what he has and the chances of them doing that are slim

We made them look a good side because we were abysmal, yes they pressed high but we couldn't cope with it as we lacked quality all over the park.
The Lilywhites are a typical championship outfit, full of spoiling tactics such as niggly fouls, surrounding the referee, time-wasting, falling to the ground at will feigning injury (although we have players in Ayling & Alioski who have perfected that trait over the years)

We were playing with a one man defence in Ben White todaymothbanquet wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 7:13 pm I'll take that result after the first half. Our defence looked like the one from last season, if everyone had shown more composure this would've been a 1 nil win to us.

Not me BG
Most of that lot couldn't cope with the premiership!
Norwich walked this league last season, didn't improve their squad & look where they are now

Correct those four players looked like pre-Bielsa.Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 7:42 pm Dare i say the players looked more like they have in the past?
Dallas totally ineffective but lots of endeavour.
Ayling lots of energy but technically poor and worrying.
Coops was error prone and iffy all game, more like the player who most of us wanted sold 18 months ago.
Phillips (tin hat on) but when pressed he isnt comfortable, easy to do well under no pressure but when pressed not so good, teams will press in the Prem a lot more then here. Still dont think his position play is prem quality, sorry.
Ayling, Cooper & Phillips had stinkers. Dallas should be playing as a wing-back

Dallas is much better than Ayling in that position and I hope once we get some midfielders back mb pits him back there where he was very good while Ayling was injured.

Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
I wouldn’t say we were abysmal, we were playing a side that had a plan to force us into mistakes and make it hard for us and hit us on the break and they played some good football too, we weren’t at our best but fought hard to get a draw and could’ve won it with our chances.1964white wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 9:40 pm We made them look a good side because we were abysmal, yes they pressed high but we couldn't cope with it as we lacked quality all over the park.

How did we lack quality all over the park? We were close to full strength with our first 11

Have to agree Dallas back to wingback, Ayling has been poor for a while, today he would have got a 1 at best for showing up.

No fluency
Lack of composure
Atrocious passing
Poor crossing
Suicidal passes & loss of possession particularly in the first-half
Defensively all over the place
Apart from Nketiah's saved header & Alioski's woodwork shot we were poor in front of goal

That they are dezzy Alex Neill is a terrific coach and great backroom staff.
Take nowt away from PNE they are a top six outfit.
Made Leeds look second best in first 45 mins ,yes they are in your face and mix it with no end of tricks though possess guile to out manoeuvre teams. They got stuck to their task and Costa,Bamford, Harrison even Philipps couldn't turn without a packed midfield. Fair play to Leeds United who showed Lots of character and should have scored 3 times. Honours even at the end fair and square I suppose.
