I remember a game at ER and Noel Hunt came on as a sub. Whilst it wasn't wholesale booing there was a mixture of boos and laughter when he came on and you could see straightaway his confidence was shot and he was a bundle of nerves. There was a ball played in the air to him and if he had brought it down he was in on goal and would have had time to take a few touches and shoot. Needless to say he completely mis-controlled it and instead of there being a really good chance of us scoring the opportunity was lost. Who knows what would have happened if he'd been cheered onto the pitch and given full support. Confidence plays a huge part in football be it the confidence you get from the manager having faith in you, the confidence you have in your own ability or the confidence given from having the fans on your side.

Just last week fans were suggesting we get rid of the 'biscuitman' Tyler Roberts.

At the ground? Or are we talking about that cancer Twitter/FB again? I agree players should never be booed at a game that's the inescapable for a player. What he chooses to read is his own affair. A lot of actors never watch themselves act.

bloody auto correct

I don’t disagree with you re the example against Boro, I think it was a difficult chance given the defenders though but there were other chances that game. Harrison put In a great ball that beat the first defender but there was no one there. Not just Paddy to blame, the midfield should have been up there too.

I know there was more space late on but Roberts took advantage of it, it was a breath of fresh air. I just thin Bamford is a bit too static sometimes and in the times when he has made space his effort has been lacklustre.

I don’t mean to bash Bamford too much because I see how much work he does and he is restricted by the system. I’d love him to start knocking them in. But my love for Roberts is undying and he looked like a striker full of confidence yesterday with good movement and two great finishes.

I don’t think the fans in the ground have ever been anything but supportive of Bamford.

The issue is that now the conversations that used to happen behind the closed door of the pub happen in the public arena of social media. I think fans have every right to have those conversations but they do need to be wary that players look in. Sending the direct messages of criticism or abuse are just stupid.

Incredibly hard for the crosser to get the cross to Bamford
incredibly hard for Bamford to beat everyone
Bamford but he has got 2 or 3 Hull players around him.
Hard for the crosser to get the ball to Bamford
hard for Bamford to be the one to get to it first.
he has missed a fair few decent chances over the season
However he is an integral part of this team.
Hello all. First post but just wanted to get a few opinions on this. I didn't want to start a PB slagging thread, and still don't. But I'm taking Weasel's post and picking out the subjective points that hopefully suit my point in a fair manner.
PB DOES give 100% I'll agree, and despite looking like an C18th Dandy is robust and takes some hammer.
It IS difficult for him because he does get crowded out. It IS difficult to get him clean ball because he has no room. Accepted.
He is brilliant at holding the ball up and feeding out Costa and Harrison.
But he isn't scoring. So is he a holding midfielder who needs a striker in front of him that benefits from how many defenders PB draws away, or does he need a second striker
who offers enough threat to draw his own defenders and make it easier to give both quality ball and TIME and SPACE for PB to operate? At the moment it seems by the time he gets that one opportunity he's so heavy legged his fast twitch muscles won't work.
It's all very well saying PB is an integral part of the team, but he's a striker and he doesn't score. Either he's out of position for me or he's under supported. He's running his blood to water and getting battered every week and others get the headlines and the glory.
How soon before he realises that's a raw deal?

I don't think this is anything new we've learned about Roberts, we knew he's a young highly talented footballer who's flashed enough in his limited time to know that was always likely. We've seen his range of passing and off ball movement plenty of times in the past and when he's played as a striker before he's delivered ..My guess would be that's around 4 goals in less than 6 starts as a striker

Paddy has had our full support

Some suggestion he was booed off when subbed, well I didn't hear any booing as Leeds fans were applauding his efforts as our fans always do!

welcome!

In my opinion, as a professional footballer, that excuse can't be used apart from when referring to the latter stages of a game - he will be fit enough and strong enough - it's more a confidence thing for me. Although he's doing a lot of running and work for the team, he also typically has lots of chances to score during a game - which he has been missing. There's not really an excuse for it imo beyond being low on confidence which isn't much you can do about it. Anyway, we seem to be playing well at the moment with him on the pitch, hope tyler comes on earlier next game though if we need goals

Does it matter - everything is cumulative and affects confidence - and players know what's being said, whether it's live or on AntiSocial media - because that's what it should be called, it's the antithesis of sociability and collaboration.

I will stick by my no Bamford posts even if LW has left us. It makes discussion tough for me because I believe what I believe and I'm still seeing all kinds of proof of that weekly. I've written and deleted 4 more posts this morning. Think that's for the best.

It does, at the ground there's nothing the player can do. Twitter etc can be avoided for the most part and there are plenty of reputable places on line he can read rational argument or comment.

Come on '63 we all have our heated moments on here, I've had a few myself mate.

You were defending one of our players which is admiral of you.

In my mind you mean well, things just got a bit out of hand as can be the case with so many different opinions flying around on here!

Time for you & Ian to shake hands & enjoy what is unfolding at Leeds as we head towards the premiership.

This - I've left this place in high dudgeon a couple of times but eventually came back, usually when Twiggster, (the original high moderator before 1964white), would detect a post from me and welcome me back, after which everything was OK.

That 2nd half was a beautiful watch although we have to remember Hull are in a very bad state, we've just rubbed salt into their wounds as I expected us to do!

Even I post then ignore on waccoe, I only really read responses on the "road to the super bowl" or "road to waccoe bowl" threads. I'd probably stop Waccoe altogether if we had a good group of NFLers here..

Anyone else noticed Fulham have an extra 2 days rest before they come to ER ? We play the previous Sunday , they play on the Friday before. The Fulham game is on a Wednesday. Typical crap planning from the FL.

I know these players are rewarded handsomely but they are human and mostly young lads.
I wonder when the next Gary Speed takes his own life and the haters state, we never knew he had problems with depression, if only we knew, we wouldn't have been such tw@ts toward him.
I see you’ve been on the Hull City fans forum Gessa. They’re not a happy bunch are they??? Not really sure how they come to the conclusion we have a chip in OUR shoulder!
