It is not good in these end games to dish out a thrashing like we gave Stoke.
Brentford Fulham and WBA as soon at the 4th goal goes in are already preparing
themselves for the next game, but if a game goes on to the 89th minute, and Leeds
might be facing a draw or a defeat then this raises the hopes of the chasing pack.
They flare their nostrils hoping to catch the merest whiff of a Leeds defeat. They
rub their hands with glee that providence has left the door slightly ajar, and they
hope to be able to poke their toes in and claim automatic promotion, but cometh
the hour cometh the man, and all of their expectations are dashed, by a touch of
magic by Pablo Hernandez. This is the way to reek havoc... give the opponents a
glimpse of hope... raise their expectations, and then at the death snatch it away from them.
Hope deferred is a rotteness to the bones. A scrappy win at this stage of the competition
has a more demoralising effect than an easy win, because a seed is planted in the heads
of the opposition, that regardless of their best efforts, Leeds will miraculously triumph.
Bielsa has planned this all along... as he is accustomed to doing as he squats in his technical
area, he ruminated on all the prime numbers between 1 and 90, and he told Pablo at the water
break to make sure he scored in the 89th minute, as this would cause the most psychological
damage to the opponents chasing the top spot in the championship. He goes in for that
mystical Kabbalah shite.
Pablo of course replied "Your wish is my command" and willingly obliged.
