CHANGED A COUPLE OF THE OPTIONS FOR THIS SPECIAL LAD
2019/20
Ben White
A starter in our first X1
Would you exceed £35 million to sign Ben
What do consider a decent fee for Ben's services
Would you look elsewhere

A starter if he was ours for sure
No
His value as an untested Prem player who's a system player would be around 15M for me. 20M to us as we know he works in our unique system
If I had to but I'd make an offer of 20 to Brighton maybe with add ons, Sell on fee, England caps etc
9.5/10

Yep, this for me too, except I’d offer £25m with the add ons. I think the fact he not only knows our system, he revels in it, counts for so much. Also, he can only improve, and we’re looking at an undoubted superstar of the future injuries allowing.faaip wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 4:18 pm A starter if he was ours for sure

Re: Player Profile : Ben White
I would fairly much agree with Faaip. He is untested in the premiership and there is a far bigger leap in the quality between the championship and the premiership than there is between leagues 2,1 and the championship. White took everything in his stride superbly last season but there is a huge difference marking Kane, Vardy, Salah etc than marking even the championship's best in Mitrovic. If you look at the best strikers in recent years in the championship, Pukki, Gayle, Mitrovic etc they haven't really made any mark in the premiership so the fact White has done so well doesn't guarantee anything.
The fact he is English bumps his price up, his age does too. As such I can see Brighton wanting over £20m for him and the likes of City, Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea etc can afford that and send him out on loan. It all really boils down to price unless Brighton decide to keep him and reject all offers (but I think that is the least likely scenario). If it is a price we can afford you would hope he would choose us over any other team due to knowing he'd be a starter, working with Bielsa again and knowing the lads.
As such if it £35m+ no way. If it is a more sensible price I'd definitely get him back and hope that he could take the step up (but realistically we are in the same boat in that sense with everyone in our squad).
Rating 8/10

A starter in our first X1 - Yes and for years to come if we can get him, subject to cost.....
Would you exceed £35 million to sign Ben - No, even though it would probably be an investment if Stones was worth 50m!
What do consider a decent fee for Ben's services - £15-20m outright with add-ons rising to £30M if he and we are successful.
Would you look elsewhere - Think we will be forced to look at others and tbh centre back in the Prem is a place for experience if we can't get pure talent. As good as Struick looks he's totally untested as a Champ CB let alone prem so we really need 2 CB's. We got away with it big time because Berra was able to step up last season, but that option is gone now.
Seasons rating out of ten - 8.5

I would be hesitant to offer anything more than £25 million for him. I think Brighton are likely to dig their heels in and demand £35m+ as a minimum. If that is what he will cost, I think we should be looking elsewhere.
From what I’ve seen and heard of Lucas Quarta from River Plate over the last week or so, I think he would make a decent alternative. Plus, if the reports that we could get him for around £9m-£11m are true, that would give us an extra £20m to play with.
In terms of the impact that White has had on Leeds this season - 10/10. He has played every minute for us this season and has been solid week-in week-out.
If I were rating him in terms of Championship quality, I think 9/10 would be fair.

Definitely a starter if he was ours or even on loan to us next season hint hint Brighton
£20m is a fair valuation or better still another loan
If Bielsa says he wants someone else who am I to disagree

Re: Player Profile : Ben White
Hopefully this player profile will not be just academic and we can, somehow, get a deal done.
Obviously he’s unproven at the very top level like most of our players are, but he’s looked very comfortable at, indeed a cut above, Championship level from the very 1st game of the season, so I would have no doubt about his Premiership credentials. If we can get him for anything up to say £20m that would be excellent business.
Definite starter 9/10

Would not pay 35 million, but I'm afraid that may be the asking price.
Certainly a starter in our first eleven. If we can hold on to him he'll be a fixture in our lineup for years to come.
Season rating; 9/10

Starter for sure. He's been a integral part of our Championship winning team. The best ball playing CB since Ferdinand. Now he has to show it in the Prem. Hopefully with us, but i can't see it.

Definatley not. We are not at that level of spending just yet. We have to spend wisely in case we the worst case scenario happens. CB is a priority for me and we know what White offers. If he performs well this season for Brighton then is price could double. I'm sure that's what Brighton have in mind.
What do consider a decent fee for Ben's services
£20m tops. If we had bid for him last season, i'm guessing £5m and Brighton would have bitten our hand off?
Would you look elsewhere
If they say he's not going anywhere then yes.
Seasons rating out of ten
9 /10 Fantastic Championship player, a cut above.

Yes, a starter. No doubt.
I'm gunshy when it comes to spending big bucks so I say no on spending £35 million or more for him. I agree on £20 million.
I think looking elsewhere should be a priority.

Starter: Absolutely - would be a lock in and part of the future
Would pay £30 million max. I don't want us blowing the bank again like we did in the past
We should be looking for strong prospects overseas in the 10-20 million range. Quarta was a good player that's been talked about

Seems a very similar situation to the Villa Bournemouth situation with Mings last year. Kinda had us by the balls.

Brilliant all season, so calm and assured.
A starter if we owned him.
£20mil max though, 1 great season in the Championship isnt worth more.
We have no idea how he will do in a better league vs better players and being asked to defend much more then he has in the Championship.

I think all things considered 15m is a fair fee for Ben. We would have to go to 20 though to compete for his signature if it came to it. Would he come here for 20 or somewhere like Liverpool for more? I'll be gutted tbh if we don't capture him in this window.
