Subs bench back to normal next season

Post by 1964white »

Premier League clubs reject the adoption of the five substitutes rule for next season at shareholders' meeting today. Back to three subs next season.

Not sure how that will work out for us, on one hand we dont have a particularly deep squad, on the other it gave us that free half time Pablo sub.

You mean time outs?

I'm fine with it. Personally, I'd rather not see Man City bringing on sub #5, probably a player worth 100 gazillion pounds.

It seems that the vote was 11 V 9 to go back to three subs and no water/coaching breaks. The top six teams voted to keep both while the “lower” teams were against them. Leeds and Sheffield United voted against keeping them, according to The Yorkshire Post.

I thought that the new sub rules were only temporary measures for the remainder of last season. I assumed that they'd go back to normal automatically. Three is enough anyway.

To be fair Bielsa often made half time subs before those rules came in.
