Going to bang my own drum a bit here but the second and third goals came through the middle. We varied it up tonight and Paddy had the guts to not just rely on service from the wings but have a bloody good crack. I really hope we learn from this.
Lots to digest from that game. Biggest talking point for me is probable Bielsa taking off Struijk that early on. He would've been sent off within the next 10 mins imo. Masterstroke move, and probably one of my biggest complaints about Smith is substitutions. I think probably 90% of managers wouldn't have the nerve to make a sub like that 10 minutes into the game.
Not sure how Mings didn't get sent off, but that was a very weird moment.
We've gotten rather fortunate in the first 4 games, so our luck was due to run out sometime.

Was a good game even before the goals, some great keeping from our young un Meslier. What would you have done differently were you Smith, looking back?

Have to admit, I've wasn't looking forward to this game , had a bad feeling everything was going to go against us.
First 20, we were the better team but they looked quick on the break and they seemed to getting the better of the midfield at one point. Then we took total control. I was really worried about Ayling at CB but the style of play of the PL suits him better there than the pumping balls in you get in the Championship.
Well done to Bielsa for bring Struijk off before he got sent off, and well done too to Shacks for taking his chance by the scruff of the neck.
Buzzing after the disappointment of Monday's result.
Mings should have been sent off, but in defence (for want of a better phrase), you see that sort of thing a lot. Players picking opponents up off the ground when they think they are feigning injury or have simulated for a free-kick/penalty.
That should be a yellow card every time, even if they are right.
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

Well done and respect villain for coming on here after a 0-3 defeat, and being honest re Mings. I didn't see the game and I'm just catching up reading all my fellow MOT'ers reviews.

How great is it to have genuine options from the bench in Poveda and Raphinha?
The quality on our bench this season is really amazing. Tonight we had the likes of Poveda, Raphinha, Hernandez, Shackleton, Roberts and Davis...and that is with Cooper and Phillips out injured.

Have to say mate, other than a 5-10 minute spell, I was really disappointed with a lot of your play tonight, don't want to rub things in but you'd probably do a lot better if your players stayed on their feet a bit more. We totally outclassed you all over the park. Mings is a lucky boy but tbf so was Struijk for us.
Bamford's third was brilliantly taken but 3 defenders or was it 4 and no one made a challenge.
You've had a great start but the thing now is, how you react to this performance.
