You build from the defence up... not from the attack down...Defence wins games... Leeds United proved that in the Dons era...solid defence...1-0 gets 3 points just like 6-0 does...just not as much coverage on tele...Mick Jones shoulder wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 5:12 pm Someone said we need to be more creative earlier we need to defend first and foremost then get creative.

This for me.
We play a system that tries to cover for the individual but at the same time defensively our system relies on the individual.
Man for man is so dangerous, when your individuals are so outmatched as they will at times vs Prem teams its a very dangerous system.
Ayling vs Zaha.
Dallas vs Townsend,
Ayew vs Cooper
Struijk vs Eze
The system will struggle more and more to cover for individuals if the opponent directly counter your style and refuse to allow you to play it.
Long balls to negate the press, dropping into unnatural positions to create spaces etc.

Not sure who lost his man for the 4th. Either Alioski or possibly Struijk? but you can't allow a player that much space in the box. It was criminal. The first possible deflection, the second a worldy, the 3rd fluke the 4th what's the point.
I can't tell you how happy i am to see the international break. And i hate International football. Hopefully no more injuries. Imagine taking Klich out of the equation aswell? Scary!

Still no reason to panic. Imagine if we were in the blunts position! We're clearly lacking in depth, but we're missing 6 players today as well, so this team probably won't start another game all season. We were bound to lose games, we need to bounce back and not over dwell on it.

Not splashing out on Eze was a huge error, he is class.
Should have signed a proper left back to.
And an experienced number 1 was a kist, no disrespect to Meslier but Liverpool and Man City spent huge on Goalies for a reason.

Honeymoon period well and truly over. Now time for the hard yards, tactically at times, we looked totally naive. Sentiment aside, some players in that side, should be nowhere near the first team in this league.

All the early talk of champions league and European football was a little daft in my opinion, we are on a big learning curve and this season is all about surviving and getting the players accustomed to the PL,gaining the experience required, whilst gradually adding better players, then we can start thinking of better fortunes. Palace had their fair share of luck today but they had far more composure than us to, like I said before we're too gung ho, we must be great to watch for neutrals.

We have to play everyone twice, the same as everyone else.Smudge3920 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 4:58 pm Paddy...
7 in 8 (should be 8 in 8 )
8 games concede 17 goals (and we dont have a D problem !![]()
Arses, Neverton , Chelski, Bubble boys next 4...
Anyone still not thinking 40 pts is the priority...?
We'll stay up.

We'll play better against the top sides anyway as they won't just park the bus and counter attack.

Wouldn't bank on that sg . That's the easiest way to beat us.SG90 wrote:We'll play better against the top sides anyway as they won't just park the bus and counter attack.

Have to agree with most posts here.
Our gung ho approach worked well last season, but pl defences are better quality.
We are still keeping 5 players ahead of the ball. It's time we got everyone behind the ball and break quickly. If u don't concede you cannot lose

No you didn't and I didn't say you did.
I just stated my opinion that we'll stay up.
