13 songs Fugazi been a while but immense. Up there with Surfer Rosa for album of the decade for me

Listening to 13 Songs now

Really like the song 'Suggestion' some nice guitar & superb drumming

[Durly]

They didn't get the recognition they deserved, particularly for Hex.

One of my claims to fame is having been in a band with Mark Simnett.

Really?? Wow!

[Durly]

It was only for a short while, and nothing came of it. He was actually disillusioned with original music at the time, and just wanted to do weddings and corporates to earn some money. Really nice guy though, and a fantastic, creative drummer.

I guess that shows that creativity often doesn't pay and it's the simpler stuff that pays the mortgage. Bark Psychosis were such a great band. I always regret having a ticket to see them at the ICA in 1994 and getting pissed in a pub in Shepherds Bush instead........not my finest hour.

Weirdly, the album you've just nominated for 1989 my cousin Ed plays on.

[Durly]

Alleyne-Johnson?

Aye. Not seen him for a long time mind.........about 6 years ago, at his Mum's funeral. I'm in closer contact with my other cousins (his 2 sisters).

[gessa]

Garcia Peoples this evening

Nick may likes these

Is Ed Alleyne Johnson your cousin Durly?

His debut 1992 album Purple Electric Violin Concerto was a regular playlisted cd in the music store I owned, sold many copies of that album, we generally kept our playlist light, inoffensive & easy on the ear such as EAJ, Enya, Enigma, etc selling 1000's of albums through impulsive purchases. We use to stock a minimum of ten copies of Enya's Shepherd's Moon on the shelves. I reckon we were the only store who stocked Alleyne Johnson's. It's amazing how much escalator music we sold.

Seen Ed busking in York & Chester (I think) over the last ten years.

I have Purple Electric Violin Concerto & Echoes on my shelves

The Delines 'Colfax'

Both albums

The Delines 'The Imperial'

Gorgeous, beautiful, delicious describes these albums perfectly

[1964white]

The Clash 'Sandinista'

If you thought it couldn't get much better after London Calling, you could be wrong!

The Clash weren't just a punk rock band as proven by this stunning 3 album set, they took their heights to an even higher level, such versatility at it's best

[1964white]

Cranberries 'To The Faithful Departed'

Delores could sing about anything — war-stricken “sorrow,” lovers’ “grief,” who-will-save-the-babies “despair” — and it means everything, or nothing, depending on the moment.

Cranberries, now they are edible

Idris Muhammad 'Power Of Soul'

Pure jazz funk.....Grover Washington Jnr is front and centre here, proving why he's among the most revered soprano saxophonists

[1964white]

They're edible, wow.

Elbow 'Leaders Of The Free World'

Every bar of every song is meticulously performed. A colossal noise that still fits in your pocket.

Their 3rd album & never bettered

Sandinista is also my favourite Clash album.

I think we maybe in a minority here Sara
