Re: Leeds Utd v Brighton Match Thread
Definite reasons to be optimistic for this game, with Brighton missing several key players (including Lamptey who is just the kind of player to get behind our defence), spending a lot of time on the road recently, and our players surely wanting to make up for the shambles in the FA cup.
But, caution is definitely required with set pieces and their aerial threat, the pitch which is in terrible shape which may suit them more, missing KP in the midfield anchor position, and complacency.
They did seem to pressure and trouble Man City today in that second half so this is no walkover at all.
Heart says win, head says draw.

We didn't handle the one just before half time. It took a good save from Casilla (his only one) to stop them scoring.mothbanquet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 5:43 pm And handled them. It was the last 45 minutes that we struggled with.![]()

On a Phillips error, not an opportunity created by them.

If this weather carries on we could be looking at a postponement, only hope is the pitch is playable and the Brighton players can get here but fortunately we don’t have to worry about the terraces and surrounding area. Weather forecast is snow through to this evening then freezing temperatures all day tomorrow with rain on Saturday.

Brighton have a very depleted squad according to the Guardian they have Tariq Lamptey, ( 11) Aaron Connolly,(10) Danny Welbeck,(9),Adam Lallana(14), and Alireza Jahanbakhsh(15) all missing. appearances in brackets
Three strikers out. All we will need to do is keep Maupay ( 18) shackled.

I wonder if Llorente will start alongside Cooper or if he'll be eased back with Ayling retaining his centre-back role.
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

Great. Brighton are a good side so those players being out will certainly weaken them. This is a game that if we win will really put us in a great position, lose it and we’re looking over our shoulder a bit.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 3:53 pm Brighton have a very depleted squad according to the Guardian they have Tariq Lamptey, ( 11) Aaron Connolly,(10) Danny Welbeck,(9),Adam Lallana(14), and Alireza Jahanbakhsh(15) all missing. appearances in brackets

I can only see the Crawley game being a catalyst for a good performance tomorrow, this is a game I looked forward to when the fixtures came out with the White situation. Let’s hope we make him wish he was at Leeds a bit more tomorrow
