One wonders why...is it just he wants to get Struijk playing the DMF role and the result not so important ?YorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 3:51 pm Bielsa has indicated that Struijk will play defensive midfield, Luke Ayling will move to the centre of defence whilst Shackelton will play right back.

Surprised. Didn't think he'd want to shuffle everyone around. But Bielsa knows bestYorkshireSquare wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 3:51 pm Bielsa has indicated that Struijk will play defensive midfield, Luke Ayling will move to the centre of defence whilst Shackelton will play right back.

So because 1 more player is out we move our best defenders recently (Struijk) into dm.
We move our only natural right back into cb a position he wasnt good enough to make a career out of.
And we bring a cm into right back?
I dont understand why MB has to make things so complicated sometimes.
Move Klich to dm play Shacks in cm? Simple enough surely?

Can't help feeling KP should have been pulled as soon as he went down on Monday.

He clearly sees Struijk as a CB/DMF long term and the best way to learn is to play

I suspected earlier in the week that Bielsa may make 3 or four positional changes when he only needed to make one.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 3:56 pm So because 1 more player is out we move our best defenders recently (Struijk) into dm.

Marcelo Bielsa is the Frank Zappa of football...He'll make a sign and the formation will switch seamlessly

Would he have to type in Spanish and we'd have to wait for the translator?

I'd like to see Strujik establish as a CB because he's looked comfortable the last 3 games. He hasn't looked comfortable in the DMF role. Although his passing has been more adventurous lately too, so maybe we'll see that.
I guess the thing is that we don't have a ready made back up for KP. Maybe Dallas could do it. But beyond that, it's players like Jenkins and Gotts (on loan) who are probably a couple of seasons away. In that regard it makes sense to give Strujik game time there.

At least Arsenal will be confused too.
