Re: Big six proposal

Post by Peter in Blackpool »

Am I missing something here?

If and when we get into "the big six", I would much rather watch us play the likes of Barcelona and Inter Milan, week in, week out, rather than playing at the dell or in brighton, being watched by 10,000 fans or so.

Was expecting this for the last 20 years.

Next will be a division 2 and 3 in europe.

What will be interesting is what happens to clubs no longer good enough for euro super league, if they have been expelled from pl or serie A, where would they go? has to be a leugue 2 in europe before much longer.

Teams in English Leagues will in effect be semi professional

You don't think they earn enough as it is? You will never satisfy the mercenaries but every man and his dog understands what's at stake here. If players don't like it they need to make themselves heard. Simple as that imo.

Bielsa, in another language, in a few lines, has made far more sense than so much of the hysteria spouted so far. It's terrible, but it's what the rich do, the poor are expendable. Why is this shocking for fans of clubs that for years welcomed newer richer owners?

Would there really be that much interest from ordinary, non partisan football fans in a closed shop franchise where there is no relegation, therefore no new blood coming in, no new interest to freshen things up (for example like Leeds have done for the Premiership this season), just the same 14 or 15 teams playing each other year after year?

Sounds a bit staid and pointless to be honest and fans buying in to it would probably get stalled of it quite quickly and perhaps it might turn out not to be the big money spinner these signatories are hoping for!

You only have to look at how our government has lined the pockets of their friends and family during this pandemic, while the working class have struggled to make ends meet and so many people have lost their lives to mental health this year more than any other year....

The rich only care about their bank balance

This is why the governments stance is so important, and they are on record today saying that if the breakaway clubs are protected by competition law then the law will be changed, and what is more after Brexit we can do what we want and the greedy swines cannot always overrule the UK's parliament.

Apparently Chelsea and Man City were only informed of this crap last week and were basically told get on board or risk being left behind.

They caved.

But they arent driving forces by any means and now 2 unnamed English clubs are having severe concerns and the bottle is going.

City and Chelsea can still make this right. Sheikh Mansour and Roman Abramovich can pull their clubs out and do the right thing.

They both have the financial power to not need to worry about the financial implications if they back out and it would be a devastating blow to this joke proposal.

An American bank is involved in this attempted hijacking of the best of European football teams. Is it an evil masterplan to dominate European football and the vast global profits that will follow?

https://youtu.be/21Bt43gxLLs

I'm not sure what the solution to this development is. Do we keep calm and carry on. Lobby government to step in, or are they already onside stuffed like christmas turkeys by their American owners. How far dare UEFA go when renegotiating the Champions League with a US bank threatening to upset British footballing tradition, so profoundly it hints of a great spectre looming over Britain's cultural institutions?

What if scenario

Ok...so we currenlty sit at 12 teams that have accepted, with a further 3 teams(TBA) to make up the founding 15... a further 5 qualifiers will round of the 20 to realise the competition...
It is my understanding that the "original 15" are guarenteed entry every year... So what if...

Lets say Leeds are one of the qualifiers... we win it... what happens next...

1. Will Leeds be given automatic entry to defend there title the following year? and that will only allow 4 further qualifiers?
or...
2. Will they have to requalify again to be able to defend thier title?

I personally think this will die a death (hopefully) but it raises so many questions and problems.
The teams that have already accepted, have already broken their contracts with the Prem, FA, EUFA & FIFA hence the already filed court actions by these super league pirates...the Prem, FA, EUFA and FIFA have to really have the gonads for this fight... no backing down...MOT

Aside from the fact that the people brokering this deal (Banks) and the owners behind it all...are not sportsman but businessmen...It has to be said it is disgusting and disturbing that one of the major banks/financial institutions in the world would commit such obscene amounts of money to sport, when not one government in the world yet knows exactly what the whole financial fallout of this pandemic will be, everyone (including America) is printing money to stave of a complete meltdown of every countries infrastructure... we really do have it all arse backwards.

BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal have decided not to participate in the ESL. They are starting their own breakaway league with just themselves.

Bookies have them as second favourites to win it.
