West Ham red card.
So now you can't clear the ball in case your foot comes in contact with the opponent running into you.
Even more of a joke than Cooper's was.

Just watched that red card. Unbelievable! Ridiculous.
Stop looking at things in slow motion. If the rule is now that contact with an opponent after kicking the ball is illegal we’ll be playing 7 v 7 most games.

Ball kicked at him from a metre. Arm next to body. Arm doesn’t move towards ball. By what criteria is this a handball? This would not be a free kick against any top six team. VAR destroying football one game at a time.

Indeed, was an absolute travesty. Proper cheered when Willock managed to stick one in shortly after.Aussieleeds wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 7:16 am Ball kicked at him from a metre. Arm next to body. There are rules they should implement but not considered whatsoever.
Football should stop the clock every time play is held up as they do in rugby league.
No more than one substitution in the last ten minutes, five or six subs in the final part of the game is all about wasting time & stopping the momentum of the game
The offside rule should be in favour of the attacking team, feet only no more silly lines please.
If the ball hits the hand that is not outstretched, penalties should not be given & in the case of Newcastle goal it should have stood.
Tackles are part of the game, if a player has genuinely won the ball but a follow through is inevitable red cards should not be given.
One of the most stupid rules introduced is where a player is fouled & he has to leave the pitch until the ref waves him back on, so this rule is an advantage to the culprit who crippled the injured player, ridiculous!

Both players involved in the injury should go to the sidelines until the injured party is able to continue.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 9:32 am All the rule changes have spoilt the beautiful game![]()

Re: Today's Games
Need extra time to be determined by an independent timekeeper so every minute (and only every minute) of required time is played. If this is done the advantage of ‘time wasting’ is minimised. I’ve seen players carded for time wasting and the ref not add any time.
Also, game should never stop for a cramp or hamstring injury or similar. Why is a fit team penalised because the other team’s lack of fitness? Fair enough stopping game when an opponent has caused the injury.

People keep blaming VAR but it is the referees making the decisions and making ludicrously poor decisions. How they can make these decisions when they have the opportunity to view the incidents several times is baffling - you can forgive/understand them getting it wrong on the pitch when they only see it once and might have an obscured angle of vision or not have quite seen the incident fully.
I have never understood why they don't use a clock in a similar way to lots of other sports, rugby, american football, ice hockey etc. It is ludicrous that we get to 90 minutes then are playing a guessing game as to how many minutes the ref will add on and then when the referee will actually blow his whistle. Have the clock on display in the stadium, even have a hooter go at 90 minutes then the next time the ball goes out of play it is the end of the match.
The follow through with some tackles and clearances is inevitable you don't simply stop your leg's momentum when you hit the ball. There is a huge difference between the likes of Cooper's tackle clearance (for me it was a clearance and if you look at the angle his foot is moving after he hits the ball it is more upwards than horizontally) and someone going in to deliberately wipe the man out after taking the ball. For me the Fernandinho assault on Raphinha was 100 times worse than Cooper's sending off as there was absolutely no attempt to win the ball just a pre-meditated challenge with only one thing in mind - to stop the player with no regard to any potential injury.
