Sounds ludicrous but entirely believable that Bielsa would drop a player for that.

Far more likely than him not being fit imo, Richarlison played an Olympic final 1 week ago, he started for Everton.

Think quite simply MB's stubbornness regarding his fitness and weight requirements caught KP out and MB wont change his mind even if it costs the team?
Just a rumour, Bielsa said he wasn't ready and that is the end of it.

We all complained about Bielsa's stubbornness after he fielded the same side against Spurs that flopped at Brighton and we know how that went.

We are allowed to name a 9 man bench, looking at the size of our squad who else could we name?
How would Kalvin not be match-fit Ian? he only had three weeks off after playing for England, much more competitive than our friendly matches. KP came on in one of the friendlies & he looked in total control imo!

If he isn't match-fit he won't be selected for the Everton game as we have no games to play before Saturday, also why didn't he give Phillips a run out for the last 30 minutes yesterday when the game was gone?

Sorry I don't get it :duno:

So weight is more important than the quality of player?

Revie's boys would never got a game

Marcelo is obsessed with playing Koch as a DM, his captain Cooper as one of his main CB's & using Roberts & Costa from the bench rather than giving others a chance.

You have to admire his loyalty!

U23s Away to Palace tomorrow Leon, I suppose that will be telling.

If he needs minutes he will get them then.

As to why he didn't come on. I have no clue.

Bielsa just said he wasnt ready

Regarding Kalvin, Bielsa said:

"There's no new injuries that I'm aware of at the moment and of course Kalvin is always in consideration to be a starter but his lack of preparation hindered him"

It certainly sounds like him not starting was related to discipline of some sort. Tough spot for Bielsa, having to leave off your most important player and shame on KP if he hurt his teammates by not towing the line the way he should. Hopefully whatever it is won't last more than a week.

I sincerely hope we haven't got another Pablo scenario here!

Most of our issues are self inflicted, there is a time and a place for pretty football and it ain't in our penalty box and surrounding area. It won't change though risk, reward. No reward today🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for a fair assessment and your perspective. I am in the same boat on this, think 10 games is a good marker. With both KP and Llorente to come back and lesser opposition to play, lets see where we stack up. I still would hope we are at least a top half team. Understand everyone's concern given our pre-season and yesterdays game.

Hoping for more to come and some new players (although I do not think they will be in shape for 6 to 10 weeks).

won't his lack of preparation just be down to kalvin having been at the euros and thus late to join up with the team for pre season?

either way, the decision to play Koch at cdm was criminal regardless of Kalvin's level of prep. I'd rather have a 50 per cent kalvin there than Koch sorry.

I agree Dan  couldn't believe our team selection when you think of our fitness regime & Manure had three Euro stars in their line-up who appeared to be as fit as a butchers dog.
