That's why we should give the likes of Summerville and Gelhardt a chance. They're fearless and unpredictable. You can't say they'd be any worse than what we've seen so far.
Also dare I say it, but we should have kept Pablo.
You can't say that on here SG.
Pablo was past it just like Ronaldo, Cavani, Giroud, etc.
We still haven't replaced our little Spanish wizard
Need to bring in a quality centre midfielder, a striker that will challenge / better than Bamford, and a quality right back though drameh could be the answer.
I would try Dallas and Phillips in the middle with raph just ahead, and James out on the right, rodrigo should be benched.

We should have replaced Pablo, kept him? Not for me i think his time was up physically and maybe even mentally.
You have to know when to move on and i do agree on letting Pablo go, not replacing him though? Totally wrong, the club have got the central midfield situation badly wrong.
Also Pablo wanted to go i suspect, Mar had gone back to Spain, i think keeping King Pablo actually wasnt an option really.

The players.
They care very much.
And for all our talk about "we should finish 4th/11th/16th", with the 2nd lowest wages in the division we should finish 2nd from bottom.
I doubt we have the second lowest anymore. James will be on about £70k, Firpo will be on big wages too. Bamford, Dallas and Meslier have had pay increases too.

Problem is we haven't replaced him at all, which is why I'd have kept him. But we should've signed a Pablo replacement instead of James.

The thing is, if we stayed up and MB signed on again, we'd still be selecting the likes of Cooper, Ayling, Roberts, Klich and Dallas next season, rather than freshening it up. You have to know when it's time to move on. Wenger stayed on too long at Arsenal, Fergie got out at the right time. As painful as it would be, I think we need to look afield next summer.
Maybe true and i say this with absolute respect and love for everything MB has done for us.
You have to know when to change, the players , the coaches, the recruitment team or sometimes all 3.
I strongly suspect this will be MB's last here, especially if we have a poor season and regress because i think if that happens he will know that a rebuild is necessary and he isnt going to want to do that.

Pablo should have been replaced, simple as that and we should have signed an extra cm as well, one who could provide cover/ competition for KP and Klich.
James in addition to, not instead of, the recruitment for this summer was wrong imo (not Dan James fault of course).

Bit of a difference between Ayling and Dallas (both 30) and Pablo (36).
For starters, at 30 Pablo hadn't even kicked a ball for Leeds!
Difference is Pablo was a top player at his peak, playing for Spain and Valencia. Whereas Ayling and Dallas were average Championship players who've played out of their skins the past three years. I'm grateful for what they've achieved at the club, but the fact that we didn't want to improve on them will mean we go backwards.

No he certainly was not playing for Spain and Valencia.
When Leeds signed him, he was older than Dallas and Ayling are now, playing in Qatar, the last of his 4 Spanish caps had been 6 years before, and he finished at Valencia 4 years before.
It's ridiculous dismissing Dallas and Ayling on the basis of age. You cite Pablo as evidence when his career proves exactly the opposite, at 30 you can have years of a great career ahead.

I said at his peak. Yes players who have good careers in their 30s are usually well above the level they're at or are all time greats. I wouldn't say our players in their 30s fit either criteria.

Where has this we have the 2nd lowest wages in the league come from? Surely at least Brentford and Norwich are lower...
Would have thought so?
Last season only WBA and Sheffield United had a lower wage bill.
Will ours have gone up that much? Probably not, would expect it to be higher than the 3 newly promoted clubs atleast?
The result aside today, when the players were in the tunnel, the atmosphere was incredible and Peter Drury in commentary spoke some of the most beautiful words ever heard in football:
“It is a privilege to play in front of this baying mass, but boy they require of you. There is not a noise quite like the Leeds noise, there is not a sporting heat quite like this white heat. Since Keegan and Bremner, indeed since long before, Leeds Liverpool has always been something........and boy is this something!“
I'm going to keep these words for the rest of my days. I love our club and our fans. This is more than football.
P.S. Rodrigo had to bury that chance. Changed the game.
