Re: Brighton v Leeds Utd Match Thread - Raphinha, Rodrigo and Firpo Start

Post by Cjay »

Roberts was our best attacking player although he should have scored.

Mes motm.

We are bang in trouble trouble though and anyone who doesn't think we could be relegated is kidding themselves

So much lack of quality in this squad its so poor.

The tactics and stubbornness of Bielsa is now really starting to cost us, his unwillingness to bend on his pecking order or tweak his tactics is a real hinderence now.

I am really concerned.

The idea that Forshaw is the second coming needs to be very much relooked at, when allowed time and space he’s ok but when pressed he is as bad as I remember

Brighton aren't that good still maintain that, despite how crap we were we could have scored a few ourselves, we made them look far better than they are.

Joe gtf outa there, you have no chance of playing even after playing great the week before. Youd have buried those shots that Roberts had and still wouldn't have been wearing a stupid fooking smile afterwards.
We are 100% in a relegation fight and God bloody help them !!

Our performances have been underwhelming since the pre season.

This isn't a shock to anyone who isn't blindly loyal imo.

The warning signs have been there since pre season.

Sanchez denied Roberts two goals, both of which were on target, which makes a difference for us

Struijk at DM does not work. Why is Forshaw asked to play the advanced midfield role when he is more suited to DM. Just head scratching starting selection and the changes were equally as strange.

Indeed and Forshaw isn't a box to box midfielder either (his career stats show that) so that is 2 square pegs.

Then James up front is another

Rodrigo in cm is another

Dallas isn't a full back

Shackleton isn't a full back.

You can't have that many players out of position and think it won't have an impact but Bielsa does.

I now, after seeing that demoralising performance, really believe we are heading back to the championship, unless Bielsa can work any more magic....a few players out there today looked knackered and resigned to it. I wouldn't let Firpo anywhere near the first team again !

To be fair to Firpo he was sold short by Harrison early doors and to get carded in 4 mins will have shaken his confidence. But he should not be in the starting 11 he looks lost and has no situational awareness. Lamptey had a field day playing off his shoulder.

Another crap performance. Whenever Raph has a poor game, we have no goal threat. Gelhardt didn't deserve dropping for Rodrigo.

Cucurella was everywhere for Brighton. No doubt a fraction of the price of Firpo, who was dreadful again.

December fixtures are a nightmare, next 2 games need 6 points or we are in it big time. Still a championship squad I’m afraid, that means championship football next season

It isn’t a shock to anyone, loyal or not.

Saying every week that we should have signed a midfielder in the summer ( you told us so) and didn’t is stating the obvious - what isn’t obvious are the reasons that we didn’t though.

And the defeat against Ajax is put in perspective by the fact that they have won 5 Champions League on the trot.

We are poor at the moment, no argument. And I think we need to buy in the January window.

But in the end this is what we have atm, we are where we are with our players and manager and we can support or criticise for the sake of it. We can’t change it.

I think Kalvin has been dreadful all season tbh. He needs to get over himself and his England ego. Unless he wants to take us down.

Why would you use England's best holding midfield player at the back (and possibly piss him off in the process ) Bielsa has done a remarkable job for us over the past few years...BUT ??

Ajax are far above us as you say but the performance were the clue imo.

You can lose and play well we have had 1 good performance since last season, Watford.

We can't play for 90mins and more worrying we are struggling to play 45mins.

Something isn't right, it hasn't been for a long time.

Can they fix it?
