Re: Norwich Thread - Lampard pulls out of Norwich talks
Norwich are poised to offer former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith the managers job.
It does raise the question as to who was their original 1st choice given Smith was still at Villa when they sacked Farke.
Was it Lampard?

Re: Norwich Thread - Lampard pulls out of Norwich talks
I think it would definitely have been something like this. He'd have wanted them to spend a fortune in January to try to buy them a chance of staying up and then likely the guarantee of spending a load if they went down. It isn't really Norwich's way of operating. They seem to want to spend minimal on transfers and are happy yo-yoing. They got aay with it through having a decent manager but no guarantee a new manager could do the same.
Only reason Derby did reasonably well under Lampard is because they already had a team that had got to the play-offs the year before and he was able to bring in 3 excelent loan signings who all played fairly regularly in the premier league the following season. They also splashed a bit of cash o actual signings too.

Dean Smith is set to become the new Norwich City head coach.
The final details are being sorted for the ex-Aston Villa boss to replace Daniel Farke, who was sacked by the Canaries last Saturday.

Re: Norwich Thread - Lampard pulls out of Norwich talks
It just makes the whole decision seem even more staggeringly stupid. They thought he was doing such a bad job they had decided to sack him. Despite this they thought it was better to keep him on for another match. He wins the match and yet they still decide to sack him despite not having had anyone lined up and despite knowing for a few days that they were going to sack him. They then decide to go for someone who has just been sacked by a club that thought he was in danger of getting their team relegated. This manager, Smith, has no real history of a) keeping a side up - Villa stayed up in their first season because others lost rather than then winning to stay up and b) of getting teams promoted - yes he got Villa up but they did it via the play-offs and only just snuck past Derby and he arguably under achieved at Brentford given their performances since he left. In Smith they have got a manager that has been less successful than the manager they sacked at getting teams promoted.
Just comes accross as short sighted panic with no real plan in place.

Re: Norwich Thread - Dean Smith is set to become the canaries new coach
I am surprised Dean Smith is going to jump straight back into the frying pan with a almost impossible task. I would have taken a little time to see what else comes up. The Rangers job would have been a good shout. Although it looks like its gone now.

Lampard really is a vile scumbag imo , looking for easy pickings I guess with Gerrard's Rangers , so as to make it look like he knows what he is doing .To give impression that Norwich job all done and dusted then walk away.....well I suppose it would be a management test of skills he doesn't have , Rangers ? I hope they go for Van Bronkhorst instead
. What next then for the chav ?

Re: Norwich Thread - Dean Smith is set to become the canaries new coach
Norwich City have confirmed Dean Smith as the club's new head coach on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Craig Shakespeare, who worked with Smith at Villa Park, will join him as his assistant at Carrow Road.
"It has been a whirlwind seven days," said Smith, who was dismissed by Villa on 7 November.
"I'm really pleased to be back and working for Norwich City in the Premier League.
"Clearly, there has been some wonderful work that has gone into this football club over the last four and a half years. It is now the job of myself and Craig to continue and improve on that work with the ultimate aim of surviving in the Premier League."

Re: Norwich Thread
Dean Smith says the club are waiting anxiously on coronavirus test results before their Premier League game against Manchester United.
"We have got a couple of knocks and have got a couple of Covid-related issues that we are waiting on results for this morning," said Smith, who took over at Norwich last month.
"I can't really let you in on any names, but there's a couple of players who we are worried about, so we have tested and we will wait for the PCR results.

Re: Norwich Thread
Billy Gilmour seems to being made a scapegoat by the canaries fans , telling him to F off back to Chelsea. If they're not to keen on him I'd happily take him at Leeds
