The problem with the January window is convincing clubs to sell and then at an agreeable price. The players with agent influence - with six months left on their contract will also consider whether they can get a better personal deal in the summer. Particularly as what they could expect in wages and a signing on fee will invariably form some part of a transfer fee.

There is a balance to be struck and at some point the price of a perceived ‘at any cost signing’ can escalate to comparative lunacy. January is a sellers market. As a club in our position ( which is quite frankly self imposed desperation ) we will pay well over the odds. So suggesting Cabral and the winger for £16 million each is extremely fanciful.
I doubt wE would not get much change out of 30mil for Cabral alone.

One thing I do expect is any signing involving a transfer fee will be from foreign shores and probably left field. Orta has a fixation with Spanish market. I agree that the signing of Firpo and James based on the evidence thus far are very poor value for money. Harrison was a shoe in. No fan would have suggested that signing him for the fee involved given last season was anything but good business. His constant struggle with form and confidence this year is a paradoxical nightmare.

My concern is the club look to sign a utility type player who can apparently play in a number of positions as a cost effective signing. Whatever they do it needs to be successful in terms of on the pitch impact.

Bit part player at Napoli atm but only 22 and still has played 14 games worth of minutes managing an impressive 6 goals and 2 assists.

21 year old USA international and RB Salzberg midfielder Brenden Aaronson.

RB Salzberg are excellent at finding cheap gems, basically they are what Victor Orta wishes he could do and what Radz wants us to do more.

Erling Haaland, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Patson Daka, Dominik Szoboszlai, Hwang Hee Chan, Marcel Sabitzer, Dayot Upamecano, Amadou Haidara.

They are just better at finding these cheap gems than everyone else ( much of this is down to Manure boss Ralf Rangnick who unfortunately will probably help Manure do similar when he moves upstairs).

Brenden Aaronson is the latest gem, he is a key player who has helped them get through to the Champions league knockouts to play Bayern.

He is a 21 year old all action midfielder who is being tracked by RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund as well (see the problem not to mention Red Bull are hardly our mates).

Would he (Orta) bring in the right players is my concern.

I feel a bit sorry for Orta in a way because of how exacting Bielsa is. Players such as Noa Lang and probably others have been on Orta's list but if Bielsa doesn't want them then he can't sign them. Must be furstrating for Orta to watch a player develop elsewhere into a real talent and now we could have signed him but the manager didn't want him. Although equally if he signed the players for us without the manager's approval there would be no guarantee they'd fit into Bielsa's system so might not develop as well as they have elsewhere.

I imagine Orta has much more say over the U23s signings with Bielsa likely just offering an opinion rather than making the decision.

As disturbing as it seems I think the Raph sale has legs. Only through his sale do we have the funds to be able to buy. If this is the case it is an act of sheer desperation to sell the clubs prized asset to probably pay over the odds to apparently strengthen the team.
If this does happen it will in all likelihood on initial consideration be a lose lose.

Unless ………….. we Not only stay up, but play football reminiscent of last season and acquire a hidden gem who can excite the fans.

A massive ask and if this strategy is what the club have in mind, undoubtedly Orta’s last role of the dice.

I'm beginning to think that Leeds in the Premier is too big for Radz. He is now a small fish in an ocean and I think he is beginning to realise this. I just hope that the good work that has been done is not lost, but I am not confident.
