The Delines - Arrived today.

Post by 1964white »

Oh my god, another beautiful album from Portland's finest

The third album proper for 'Country-got-Soul's finest, The Delines, on Decor Records sees them exploring the US Gulf Coast, not far from where Amy Boone grew up. The songs in this cinematic opus all focus around this area and are inspired by when Amy asked Willy Vlautin to write her a song like Tony Joe White's 'Rainy Night In Georgia' after her tragic accident being hit by a car in 2016 and her 3 year recovery. This follows on from 2019's The Imperial which was number one in the UK official AMA charts for two weeks. Written and partially recorded before lock down the rest of the album was finished last Summer, produced by John Morgan Askew at his Bocce studios just outside of Portland, Oregon. The album features the classic line-up of the band with Amy Boone (vocals), Willy Vlautin (guitars, vocals, songwriting), Freddy Trujillo (bass), Sean Oldham (drums, vocals) and Cory Gray (keyboards, trumpet and arrangements) doing some of their finest work yet. Willy Vlautin has just published his sixth novel and we will be reissuing more of their previous band, Richmond Fontaine in later 2022.

Album 3 - The Sea Drift

Definitely not, Swannie.

Unlike Leeds United, Amy Boone & her band never let me down, they continue to make beautiful music.

Absolutely gorgeous!

Not really, I realise they're a football team run and played by human beings. They're all doing the best they can and we know this team and FO only have the best for LUFC at heart... Other owners/players have put ambition or money first. Don't think this lot are. We're a family club again...

Can I ask how you would have felt if the Revie era Leeds had come under the same criticism? They would have you know, one of the great teams of all time, great manager and so few trophies ...

Revie's teams always came back after bad results, so any criticism was few & far between.
Seven trophies (robbed of at least four trophies)

Lovely voice, slow tempo - like her voice, not this record or the genre.

No offence Leon - music's a very individual taste.

Modern day Karen Carpenter with a bit more of a country feel, Norm.

Also agree with faaip's musings (on most things actually).

Following on from the above topic.

Whilst in Pocklington, as we were passing the Arts Centre I noticed The Delines are playing there on the 13th July, unfortunately the concert has sold out, so I nipped into the foyer/reception area to ask them to add my name to their list should there be any cancellations, to my delight the receptionist reckons there maybe a couple of tickets available & she'll phone me tomorrow. I'd be over the moon if I acquire a couple of tickets. :-D
