Wales won their Qualifying game. You could apply the same metric to Brazil who were placed in a two team groupmentalcase wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:07 pm Oh yea '58'
How many teams were there 16 was it !!!
Wales were lucky to be invited to get through by default.
Marsch OUT
Football has undergone a process of bielsification; pressing and possessing, passing rather than dribbling, intercepting high up the field rather than making last-ditch tackles, are in vogue.
Marcelo Bielsa. The light that will never go out.

So no Italy at the WC, kinda hate that. Good game from James for Wales I thought, sizeable hand in the second and forced the keeper into one good save while playing very well off the last man's shoulder and keeping a very good defence on their toes ..

Canada through to Qatar! Gonna have a dram or two for that. Been waiting 36 years for this feeling.

USA thrashing Panama right now (4-0), so it's looking pretty good for the USA to be joining the Maple Leafs there.

Thanks John! Would have loved to have gone through the final round undefeated to cap this magical run but it still feels monumental. Feared all along that they would find a way to crash out at the final hurdle but they closed the deal today. Very sweet and looking forward to cheering on my own country at this Cup.John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 12:25 am Hearty congratulations to our neighbors to the north!

I think the US was the best team in the group and qualification is merely a formality now. If they can keep getting better they could make some noise in Qatar. I'll be happy if Canada can score a goal or two, draw for a point, or maybe even steal a win. At least improve on 86 when we didn't score a single goal!

Very generous of you to say, but you guys mopped the floor with us when we played up north. You'll be fine in Qatar.onemoreslogan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 6:30 am Thanks John! Re: Today's Games
There are now substantially more kids registered to play football than hockey. It's been that way for years now but there was never any club structure to help identify and develop elite talent. MLS changed that and now there is even a domestic professional league. Canada is finally beginning to realize its football potential. I suspect we won't wait another 36 years after Qatar for our next appearance.

I saw that game differently John. Canada scored early and parked the bus. The game in the States was similarJohn in Louisiana wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 4:06 pm Very generous of you to say, but you guys mopped the floor with us when we played up north. You'll be fine in Qatar.
This edition of the USMNT is sparkling with young talent full of energy. It just needs to be synched and unlocked. Bielsa could do wonders with that roster!
