The next transfer window is the single most important one that Orta will have done at this club .The right recruitment is essential and I think is what Orta will be judged on for the rest of his time at Leeds .Make no bones about it , forget the under 23's , the first team doesn't need tweaks , it needs drastic overhaul......there are a few of the usual faces that just aren't up to it over the course of a season , whether that be physically on the injury side, or on the skills technicallly .

Overriding feeling for me at the final whistle was relief that all that had been built since Bielsa arrived hadn't fallen to dust as we headed back to championship obscurity. But make no mistake, this was the great escape and none of us want to experience a season like that again. As others have said, this summer is crucial; get our recruitment right and we have a chance to push up the league and consolidate mid table, mess it up and it'll be more of the same come August. Is JM the man to do it? Not convinced, tbh, but he deserves the chance to prove the doubters wrong and I hope he does.

Yes true..but as a Bees fan aswell..i hope they dont have as shitty a 2nd as we have had.
And it was nice of them to have a crap day in front of goal..even with help from Cap Coops and our defence.

I can see them having a real struggle unless Eriksen stays. They were in freefall, at least results wise, before he started playing. A bit similar to Villa with Coutinho he made a massive difference. 4 out of the 6 promoted clubs in the last 2 season have gone straight back down.

I hope you're here for a long time John, I hope Jesse's here for a long time too coz it means he's getting it right, but i'm just praying whatever formula he has in mind works because i'm just not feeling it at all yet, if i'm honest what i'm feeling atm is i'm fretting that it just won't work with what players he's got, if it fails from the off and looks as bad as what we've seen up to now he'll have to be sacked within the first few weeks coz we'll be staring at relegation from the off with this lot.

The situation at present reminds me of when Terry Venables came in to replace David O'Leary. We played a certain way under O'Leary, a fast attacking way based on speed rather than possession. TV came in with a different way of playing and initially it looked good but very quickly it showed that the squad wasn't really capable of playing that way.

Hopefully under JM it won't be the same scenario and players who have only really excelled, career wise, under Bielsa will be able to adapt and also unlike when TV came in we have the funds to sign a few players to fit the system (and no Paul Okons or Nick Barmbys).

Some good opinions and posts in this thread. Was aways going to be a challenge for JM arriving when he did. Is he the guy to take us forward? I don't know but gets my full backing and hope that he also gets the moolah from the board to freshen up the squad with some quality additions to go alongside some of our exciting young guns from the U23. What I will say is, JM has at least shown some good faith in the young players, with Greenwood getting into the frame, and him finally getting a couple of games to play Gelhardt (who is going to shine next year). He talks highly of Summerville and one or two others as well so expect to see them increasing their playing time next year as long as we can hold onto them.

Then I'm a fool .. But then I rate Gelhardt, Struijk, Raphinha, Koch, Llorente, Summerville, Hjelde, Drameh, Greenwood, Miller, Bate and a few other Orta buys... Clearly you don't ..

Most of them mainly overrated in Premier League terms, we elevate them to a higher level cos they are signed with Leeds....that's why we finished where we did.

Why is everyone saying that we will lose both Raphinha and Philips. Of course it’s possible but both are in contracts and we can keep them. We know they fit in every sense. We could spend all their transfer money and have less talent, less team harmony and no bigger return on the field.

Of course the only way that they will agree to stay is if someone sells them the vision and the plan to make future seasons different. If the determination to improve the squad is shown to them then we could get at least another season out of both.

You can also factor in that of both perform well in the World Cup (which they should) then their value will rise much higher.

Finally, from today’s effort and celebrations afterwards, neither were anything other than 100% thrilled with the result and the escape they had secured for us. They didn’t look like players that were just “moving on”.

It’s worth a try at least - unless of course there is no great plan, or funds to go with such a strategy. Let’s see Orta and Radz earn their corn in the coming weeks. I, for one, will view the two of these players leaving as a really bad omen.

Good post Boo, and I hope that's how it goes, but I think Rapha's offski. At ;least we'll now get the right sort of money for him, and I think Phillips will stay for his entire career, Mr LEEDS.

It was clear on Sunday that Raphina and Phillips like being at Leeds and were over joyed to have been part of the great rescue act.
That doesn't mean they will stay. Barcelona comes along and offers you two or three times what you are currently earning. They offer you almost guaranteed Champions League opportunities, chances to win other trophies and to live in a wonderful city like Barcelona.
Who wouldn't be tempted by all that?
Good luck to them if they go and then hope we get enough money to be able to buy 3 or 4 really good replacements for them.
Could be a win win.
