I may be "intellectually impaired" I'll help you with your spellingweasel wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 2:39 pm I really do struggle to work out if you are intelectualy impaired or a genius at avoiding answering simple questions. Just answer the f*cking questions for once - give your opinions on those. Bielsa's not here, in case you hadn't noticed, and the questions are about evaluating Marsch, eveluating how well you think his tactics will work and evaluating whether the club have adopted the right policy and picked the right man in terms of continuation - no blame on JM but on whether the club has erred in hiring a manger who's difference in needs and playing style could render not just some first team players but some oyuth players unnecessary (after all we saw the club do this when hiring TC who was completely different to Monk, PH who was completely different to TC and then MB who was completely different to PH.
But, as I've openly said elsewhere, I'll leave it till next season to gain ( in my mind) a better perspective of JM and his ideas.
Nobody can judge (oh yes, faiip can) really, nobody reasonable can judge him on the games thus far, it was probably a "horses for course" scenario, he kept us up, nobody REASONABLE can ever say bielsa would've done either, it's impossible to say.
I normally like your posts, sometimes long winded, but nevertheless, normally reasoned with a sprinkling of knowledge, but seriously, I can't comment on JM at this stage, it appears the club had him in mind already and acted later rather than sooner.
Give him a whirl, he might just surprise us.

Thankyou for answering the questions. See everyone it isn't that hard.SG90 wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 2:51 pm 1. Help - we stayed up and won 4 games. We only won 5 games previously.
2. Yes. A full season would have us on 48 points (12th) just going off this year. And that's without any time to sign new players, improve the squad or have a pre-season.
3. Long term, but who's to say Marsch isn't a long term option? Just cause some fans are desperate for him to be fired (for committing the crime of replacing the chosen one) doesn't mean he will.

Re: Jesse Marsch
Maybe, as they had to adjust to a new system/tactics, but we still won three of our four games playing Jesse's style
That's a hypothetical question, I honestly don't know until I have witnessed some evidence of his plans/tactics.
No plan is fullproof whichever direction you choose to implement.weasel wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 11:42 am
Is building the squad to suit the manager a good idea or does it make more sense to have long term planning and go down the route of only hiring managers who plays a similar way (sort of like what Barca used to do and promoted from within after giving ex players the chance to manage their U21 teams) so that the youth can be also trained to play a certain way too?

Re: Jesse Marsch
1. The simple answer is a bit of both. It was to be expected as 12 games is nothing to implement his style with players who’d had so long with MB. At times it just seemed like a hybrid like v Norwich first half & Wolves 2nd. People will just say Norwich were rubbish and Wolves capitulated after the red. But I enjoyed the intensity of those performances in parts and the results were positive.
2. I think so if he gets the players in he needs. He’s been pigeon holed as playing a narrow penis style (handy with Koch) with no width but that’s not exactly what I’ve seen in all his games. As I understood from his previous clubs he had similarities with Bielsa as players bemoaned his “basketball” style. A description often used to describe Bielsa’s Leeds. We’re not going to be watching BielsaBall but I’d settle for a couple of mid table mediocrity seasons tbh. Maybe Marsch is our break up relationship, linking one love to our next.
3. 100% long term planning. Hard to argue against but it takes great vision, time & patience. We have to back Marsch now and get the players in he needs, what else can you do. We don’t want the let’s see if we get away with it again nonsense of this season. Also are players really that stereotyped that they can’t adjust. So a player bought for one manager cannot perform for another. Anyway needless to say about 10 or 12 games in to next season will be the time to really judge Marsch. If we are languishing near the bottom of the table and players look like they haven’t a clue it may well be time to act, and swiftly this time

You should be more shocked at the likes of the posts from Mentalcase etc.
All us Bert lovers have tried to put to bed how we feel going forward now, some more perfect than others in Weasel and Saras case and others less so like me, if you read all this back 64 it's some themselves that keep raking up Bert, i'd suggest some Jesse lovers here need to be a bit more honest with what we've seen so far :
Thanks for keeping us up, you've got a clean slate, with how we've played we have our doubts going forward, we're trying to understand you arrived with just 12 games to go but you've done nothing to instil confidence more the reverse.
I've nothing against Jesse personally, but come on tell us some positives to go on going forward now, Cjay's made a great point and got me thinking he could be right by going with this hybrid model, coz this dildo formation looks utter bollocks to me and when used all the players look like fish out of water, but we have looked better in certain games going with width again.
But who did it ? Players Management or Mother Theresa ? (just jesting with mother)

The positive is we retained our Premier League status to give us at least half a chance of progressing further.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 3:07 pm You should be more shocked at the likes of the posts from Mentalcase etc.

We could have been in the abyss now, truth is Jesse came in & did the job required.
Every Leeds fan should be happy & entirely grateful for his efforts, not questioning his systems/tactics, etc.
I'll say it again, I'm absolutely shocked by the reaction on here
Thank god our fans attending games are right behind him & the team, all the venom has been aimed at the board, not Jesse or Marcelo.

Re: Jesse Marsch
Too early to evaluate Marsch as he was here to put out the fire and on Sunday he can take the credit for doing what was asked of him.
We will never know how things would have worked out otherwise.
Funny thing is that Marsch changed his playing philosophy to suit the situation and the tools he had at his disposal. What we have had to watch is in my opinion ( and I hope) not the approach he will be taking next season when he has a few players who he wants in the squad, has expanded his backroom staff etc and had a full pre-season.
A few comments about Bielsa and the idea of not changing the approach...
He was asked about that at the start of last season just ahead of the Liverpool game.
We all know what happened there and in the next two games we won and had 6 points out of 9 with Bamford on 3 goals already.
And so it carried on, we suffered a few hammerings, but at the same time never lost three in a row and always managed the Aston Villa away, Newcastle at home types of results. Just enough. A boom and bust season. Very few draws. But by New Year we knew we were safe.
Then came that tough April and WE DID CHANGE TACTICS against ManU, Liverpool and City. We enjoyed our best run and finished very strongly.
This season went badly not only because we played wide open football, but because we were not clinical enough in front of goal. Time after time we missed the first opportunity to get in front. Go back and look at the stats. But injuries continued to cripple us and that dreadful Feb brought the curtain down on Bielsa. Would Marsch have beaten ManU, Liverpool and Spurs in a week? Well we know what happened against City, Arsenal and Chelsea. Less goals conceded but nothing creative to look back on.
But Marsch is here, he has the time, the squad, the budget, the goodwill of the board and 35000 fans who give the side undying love every single home game.
The big difference between the two is this.
Bielsa moulded the entire club successfully.
Marsch will at best only mould the squad.
But we are ALL Leeds and he is part of us now so lets hope we see great things.
He has succeeded his first task.
Well played sir

Marsch OUT
Football has undergone a process of bielsification; pressing and possessing, passing rather than dribbling, intercepting high up the field rather than making last-ditch tackles, are in vogue.
Marcelo Bielsa. The light that will never go out.

The infactuation with Bielsa is truly getting absurd now. I think there needs to be some counselling in place to help with grief and attachment. To put it bluntly, the whole thing is pathetic, move the f**k on.

Bielsa successfully moulded the whole club and Marsch can’t, probably no one else for that matter.
