As for a striker; apparently Ollie Watkins has fallen foul of Gerrard. If we could afford CDK; Watkins could be attainable and would be serious competition or an ideal partner for Bamford.
Watkins would be amazing, but I can't see Radz wanting to pay those kind of wages. I agree re. Having to wait to the end unfortunately to see who is for sale, but it's depressing we are now in a vacuum post the CDK and Alimuendo sagas.

Blimey, is the club going to gamble once again?

Three areas needed updating. They have done one.

I’m with some others on here, the left back position has to be a priority.

Can’t understand JM seemingly toeing the company line when he must know that if we are torn apart down the left wing a few times it will mean his job on the line.

Hey, what do we know?

Perhaps Jesse NOT mentioning the transfer situation is geared towards us not having our feet held to the fire by a selling club.

If we sound desperate then the price could go up..

Also lets face it no matter who plays in that position is going to get owned.

Charlie Taylor is the LB for me, ought to be cheap, also would fit well into our wage structure, he's a natural LB , sure he'll get beat a few times, Robertson does often enough.
CT has PL experience, much better than firpo will ever be, can't believe we are pissing about with this ..................oh yea I can.

Left Back
I get that it if the club doesn't feel like the right player is available. What I don't get is why we don't have a good LB prospect in the U21's. That's what I'd be looking for. The next Gyabi/Greenwood/Gelhardt/Drameh/ Summerville - a LB that could play in the 21's and be ready when the need arises.

Kalimuendo
Don't care. The player or the deal obviously weren't right for us.

Some box to box midfielder from MLS
Why? We've got Adams, Roca, Forshaw, Greenwood, Gyabi, Gray competing for 2 positions and Aaronson, Rodrigo, Klich, Greenwood can all play the AMC.

Salah might rip someone a new arsehole though.
Salah does that to everyone. Why should Firpo be any diefferent?

It's trying to defend the Theo Walcotts of the world that has me worried.

Jose Cifuentes is an excellent young South American player with a very high ceiling. He plays for one of the best teams in MLS. He's been capped 6 times by Ecuador. There HAS been some noise that he might move to Europe in this transfer window. LAFC have some cover at his position. But I see this as click bait. LAFC are making a very strong push to win trophies this year. All the pieces are in place for them to do that. So I expect him to stay put for now....

If he's good enough for you Paul, he's good enough for me.

I've got your eye down as better than our resident clowns, and what's another attempt at buying a LB, he's bound to get lucky eventually.

I've been banging the drum to bring Charlie back to Leeds for months Mental, can't believe we haven't considered Taylor.

I see Kompany has converted Taylor to a CB this season.

I wonder if that is because Kompany doesn't see him as being capable of playing as a 'modern' fullback? That could be a huge reason why we, and others, haven't been looking to sign him. Playing for Burnley for the last few seasons he was, I suspect, playing more as a traditional fullback rather than storming forward at every opportunity, having a good end product, and being able to get back in position quickly if possesion is lost.

He had his good season for us when Monk was in charge and Monk was, like Dyche at Burnley, more interested in defenders being able to defend.

That's not to say he can't get forward and put a good cross in but I wonder if he is unable to do it continually, i.e. not got the stamina or end product not consistently good enough.

Or maybe Kompany simply sees him as having great attributes to be a centre back and he should know.
I love leeds united, may I never admit to it. :shhh:

As I said in the the 'todays games' thread, CT was used due to Burnleys lack of options and his own versatility, CT is far better than firpo ever will be, like roberts before him, JM will see straight through him and send him packing.
