Watching the match Southampton gained the ascendency after our second goal. They had made changed, both subtitutions and tactically and started gettingon top. It had me worried around the 65th minute mark and I felt we needed fresh legs. That was regardless of the weather but just how the match was unfolding. When you then consider the heat then the decisions to not make changes was a huge mistake.

Heat affects players mentally and physically.

I agree with the comments about the subs.

I was sitting amongst Saints fans & they were screaming at Ralph to make changes & were pleased when he did.

It was obvious some of our lads were suffering.

My seat was in line with the penalty box at the end we were defending & at one point after they scored their first goal Aaronson was too knackered to even manage to pull back one of their players. Thank goodness he failed as Ward-Prowse would have seriously troubled Meslier from there

Ralph plays the 4-2-2-2, it's in his DNA but for some bizarre reason, probably pressure from elsewhere, he switches back end of last season and start of this to a 3-5-2 .... He switched back to a 4-2-2-2 almost in desperation and a bit like Marsch last season switching back to Bielsa's system when push came to shove because that's what the available players were best in

Southampton are a funny team, they have the players to play anyone off the park for short periods, a bit like us, and that's what they did to us helped by us tiring badly.

How badly did we capitulate ? Because this is very worrying as teams will now be studying how Soton got so far on top of us as it seems reading here.

It 100% feels like 2pts dropped and i hope this isn't the start of the drubbing that's coming, were we good in the first half ? who was the better team ? Were we in control and playing well, was formation working ok, it sounds like it was finely balanced?

After Wolves and getting it right, it seems so baffling why he couldn't change formation or whatever players especially when they got their first goal back, and don't forget this Rasmus RB is Jesse's buy and that in itself is worrying going off comments here that he thought him good enough for the Prem, early days yet i know, but some troubling things and i'm trying to be diplomatic.

It isn't my strong point.

Our game plan was far superior. At least for 70 minutes.

We simply didn't have the legs when they brought all those attacking subs in.

It was far worse than the opening 20-25 minutes of the 2nd half of the Wolves match. We got 2-0up and then it was simpy one way traffic until we finally brought Klich on in the 84th minute which nearly helped us to nick a winner.

You only need to read the comments on here to see the answers to your questions Kenny.
We were so comfortable until 70 minutes, Meslier had hardly had a save to make.
Then they bring three players on and it all changed.
They score a scruffy goal and then panic set in and you could see that some of our players, particularly Harrison, were knackered.
They make it 2-2 and then we almost throw it away before almost snatching a winner right at the death after a brilliant pass from Klich to Rodrigo.
A big mistake from Jesse not making the substitutions sooner so hopefully he will learn from that.
For what it's worth I thought Meslier should have saved their second one. He stayed upright giving KWP a bigger target.

Played a huge part (v Wolves) in turning 1 point into 3 - and without him it could even have been 0 points as Wolves were well on top.

Against Soton he nearly turned 1 point into 3 with a great pass to Rodrigo. Introduced earlier and likely saves us the 2 points dropped.
