I don’t disagree Weasel. Not at all. Still think it’s going suit him playing the cameos rather than the 90 though.weasel wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 2:08 pm Played a huge part (v Wolves) in turning 1 point into 3 - and without him it could even have been 0 points as Wolves were well on top.
Against Soton he nearly turned 1 point into 3 with a great pass to Rodrigo. Introduced earlier and likely saves us the 2 points dropped.

Possibly although I feel his poor form was largely down to KP's absence and him having to play a different way. Whilst he may have altso needed a bit of a rest I think he has had that and may be over his hip problem and back to his physical best.

Worrying, so was Wolves just luck or judgement over the subs, the going 5 at the back is a concerning move to me as well, what, with our defending it's a gormless move.weasel wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 12:50 pm It was far worse than the opening 20-25 minutes of the 2nd half of the Wolves match. We got 2-0up and then it was simpy one way traffic until we finally brought Klich on in the 84th minute which nearly helped us to nick a winner.
Klich my player of the season so far.

Thanks,Chilli D wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 12:55 pm You only need to read the comments on here to see the answers to your questions Kenny.
We were so comfortable until 70 minutes, Meslier had hardly had a save to make.
Then they bring three players on and it all changed.
They score a scruffy goal and then panic set in and you could see that some of our players, particularly Harrison, were knackered.
They make it 2-2 and then we almost throw it away before almost snatching a winner right at the death after a brilliant pass from Klich to Rodrigo.
A big mistake from Jesse not making the substitutions sooner so hopefully he will learn from that.
For what it's worth I thought Meslier should have saved their second one. He stayed upright giving KWP a bigger target.
Yes i was looking for more detailed responses.
Nobody had mentioned going 5 at the back and trying to lock up, if not PARK THE FCKING BUS.
We're 0-2 up and he makes changes to formation that sound like they've totally unbalanced the team when all that was needed was fresh legs, you put the more experienced Forshaw and Klich on or similar, he should've spotted it was failing when all you lot did on here, and reverted back to his familiar style with the new subs he didn't introduce.
I suppose a draw is ok, but both our opening opponents are shyte and we're level with them - just remember this, whilst Jesse is saying we're a work in progress and will get better, i'm worried we'll get worse when found out, i'm also worried that if his Plan A fails, can he make it work, and does he have a go to plan.

Wow - Marsch gets more flak for a 2-2 away draw that puts us 6th in the table than Bielsa got for losing a game 6-0...

I'm one of the few seeing very little drop off in form for Klich, I feel it's a cliche he can't play 90 in normal circumstances, he's only 32.

No one has brought up a comparison with Bielsa until you did.
Marsch deserves flak when he f*cks up just the same as he deserves praise when he gets things right.
In a match you lose 6-0 then likely there is a gulf in class so the realism is that you probably expect to lose an would be delighted with a point - as such the most you lost was 1 point. Leading 2-0 after 60 minutes and generally being in control you are expecting 3 points. As such to only then take 1 point is more disappointing and frustrating than losing the 6-0 would likely be as it is likely you knew you were taking nothing quite early on in the 6-0 defeat. I don't think you understand the emotions of being a real football fan.

He can't give it all this about how he has managed in America and its really hot and he knows how to handle it.

What Cjay said. He messed up, and he made himself look a bit daft after all his "heat experience" talk last week. The hope has to be that, at least privately, he recognises that he f**ked up and will learn from it. And we have 4 from 6 in our two games, so it's not all bad. We could be scum fans, imagine how pissed off they are?

Well you obviously missed this one from Faaip ;
"He switched back to a 4-2-2-2 almost in desperation and a bit like Marsch last season switching back to Bielsa's system when push came to shove because that's what the available players were best in "

I think I do - being born and raised in Leeds during the Revie era at a time when a great deal of the prestige and self-worth of the city revolved around its football team. So where do you hail from that allows you to make such a patronising comment ? I can still remember my seething anger in one of the first matches I attended at ER when Rix got a very late equaliser from a free kick in an FA Cup tie with Arsenal, after Butterworth had put us ahead.
What's Bielsa got to do with anything? You need to let your obsession rest.
Surely this is a classic case of the kettle calling the teapot black... ?
By the way, I'm not gay myself, but I couldn't believe the insulting ' banter ' that you posted on here just recently relating to gay men. I'm not in any way into wokeism or identity politics, but to my mind what you thought was amazingly funny was pure homophobia dressed up as banter. Some guys disguise blatant nastiness with the excuse ' that it was just' banter. '
And your very obvious anti-Americanism is pretty disturbing too - if I was John in Louisiana I would have told you to f**k off in no uncertain terms for insulting him twice over. I suspect that one of the things you dislike most about Jesse Marsch is that he is American.

A very tentative link there that you found from Faaip who didn't do a Marsch/Bielsa comparison but stated that the Southampton manager did something that Marsch did last season when Marsch let the players play in a way they were more used to. Why don't we play a game where we open a bag of straws and see how many you can clutch?CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 10:47 pm "No one has brought up a comparison with Bielsa until you did, "

I was born in the lovely seaside town of Whitby, thanks for asking. I don't feel it however has any bearing on my emotional state though just the same as i I had been born in Leeds wouldn't have made any difference either.
I'm extremely glad you are not into wokeism. Thanks for clearing that up before informing me how insulted you were on behalf of gay people and Americans. In future though I would be happy to insult you personally rather than anyone else if that would make you feel better?
I have no dislike for Mr Marsch. I have concerns over his ability to manage the team successfully but he seems a pretty decent guy, well for an American.

Maybe he'll also realize that he got it wrong at the press conference in bragging that he knew how to play the heat and use his subs. Saying less, in some cases, might be better.

Wtf has Bert got to do with anything now? Shall we start to do it all the time, coz i'd love to, and i am gonna do now.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 8:04 am Wow - Marsch gets more flak for a 2-2 away draw that puts us 6th in the table than Bielsa got for losing a game 6-0...
When Bert got beat 6-0 he didn't have his best players available, which meant it affected the whole team and the system he'd trained them to play, he knew they were fcking useless at anything else and he had been handed..........
Need i go on ?
Ok i will, he transformed gash players into a footballing unit, yes! He transformed them into a.........wait for it.......wait for it....TEAM!......
I could go on and on and on, but let's move to Jesse, our new up and coming American protege.
He is now being judged, i judged Bert, Bert had my jaw on the floor, i could see what he was trying to do, not just trying but doing, I never worried one fcking bit about his style, i only worried about player availability.
Jesses style has not convinced me at all yet, it was growing on me, but then Wolves ripped it apart until he adjusted, which at the time seemed an excellent move by him (it might now just have been fortuitous, or down to Klich himself being brilliant)
He has also just very badly tried to park the bus, which highlights why Bert never tried it,
Yes i would have accepted 4 points if asked before season start, but are you yourself happy with how we've just thrown away a 0-2 lead ? And even more concerning is how we did it.
We are a totally different outfit now, you think for better, and i think for worse, but Bert comparisons are inane with what we have now.

Have you noticed how the Lpool side is affected with just a couple of key players out, have you noticed how unbalanced they've become, how the whole team is effected, players having to fill roles that's not their normal best position, square pegs etc......let's not go there huh.
Jesses been given some of his own brand new shiny players that he's worked with before and ALL the experience that comes with that.
Big test in Chelsea coming up old boy, how you feeling ? Confident ?
Come on tell us how you're feeling, coz i'm a trifle worried and we're gonna learn a lot.

Ffs, i've been reading Twitter, wish i hadn't.
Rasmus is falling by many into the complete shyte bracket, along the lines of Borthwick Jackson.
There are other worrying things as well but i'm not gonna post about until after Chelsea, and apparently Jesse might be lured away by the USA job vacancy.
Bring Bert back please Radz.
