Re: Tyler Adams- DEAL DONE

Post by Kennyb41 »

'Bundesliga set me up for Premier League switch'

New Leeds signing Tyler Adams believes time spent in the Bundesliga has set him up for success in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old, who has agreed a five-year deal at Leeds, completed his move from German side RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

“For me, the Bundesliga is also one of the best leagues in the world so I have been playing against good teams like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, so I think that’s set me up for success to come here now," Adams told the Leeds club website.

“Playing in the MLS first at New York, I was able to start at a pretty young age and get a lot of games under my belt before transitioning to RB Leipzig.

“Fortunately enough my coaches have played me in some big games, big moments and given me the experiences I’ve needed to gather experience as a young player."

Adams will now work under his former RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch and says his fellow American was a "huge influence" in him making the move to Elland Road.

He added: “The one thing for me is the passion of the fans and the city, what it requires to be a Leeds United player.

“So far what I have heard is that it’s electric here. Talking to my friends who have played in the Premier League, they say it’s one of the best atmospheres they have ever played in."
Not dependent on Google, the www or 'stats' - Just a guy that puts his eyes to full use on the beautiful game :geek: ...That Ayling goal and "You couldn't script it  " - Dirty Leeds B@stard.
Must dash.

We had no one as composed with energy as Adams in our midfield for much of last season

That was great. Thanks Paul. I should watch MIB more often.

Does Roger Bennett always have a picture of Tracy Chapman behind him? Or is he intentionally making a comparison to Tyler's haircut?

Had to cringe when Tyler twice called our anthem, "Marching Out Together." He did say Marching On Together once but said it wrong twice. He'll figure it out - he's going to hear it 1000 times this season.

Roger Bennett is a comedian just as much as he is a football interviewer/pundit. I think the Tracy Chapman pic was an intentional wind up.... :roflmao:

That might be the case Ian. It's a YouTube link. I don't know how that stuff works.

A lot of people here had doubts about Tyler Adams. Myself included as his performances for club and country had not been good the last 12 months. Prior to that he was the most important player for the United States. The very first player on the team sheet. I had a lot of confidence that working with JM would help him find his game again. And boy howdy it sure has. Today you saw the Tyler Adams that we Americans know and love.

Would hate to play against Adams and Aaronson, absolute pain in the arse the pair of them. Never give up, never stop. We won't miss Phillips, feels harsh saying that, if Adams continues to perform like this.

If you think it's tough now....wait until USA vs England at the World Cup. Instead of Marc Roca you'll get Weston McKennie of Juventus. 8-)

I'll be honest. I was unsure of him when we signed him but: he's every bit as good, if not, better than Phillips IMO. Brilliant signing...

Awesome, immense performance from a unsung hero.

Tyler didn't put a foot wrong at St Mary's last Saturday, today he went up to an even higher level.

82.9% pass accuracy
62 touches
34/41 successful passes
8/10 final third passes
6 duels won
5 ball recoveries
4 tackles won
3 interceptions
3 fouls
2 times fouled
2 chances created
1 block
1 shot

Obviously I'm a HUGE fan of Tyler Adams. But to be fair he and KP are different players that excel in different systems. I think Adams is a bit more versatile. But Phillips has that range and passing ability that can make him very special. I hope he gets a real shot at Man Citeh. But my gut tells me he will have a difficult time breaking into that starting eleven. For Jesse's system I would much rather have Adams.

I think KP's passing range and reading of the game was a lot better but Adam's makes up for that with the non stop running. When his reading of the game improves he could be one hell of a player.

I'll only quibble on the margin with regard to reading of the game. I think Adams has a tremendous football brain.
