“No glossing over it how football cheated Leeds United” is a book published in 2011 which goes over some of the historical injustices suffered by this club at the hands of football’s officialdom. It’s written (not very well written in all honesty) by a Leeds fan called Gary Edwards but it may give you some idea of the sort of things we conspiracy theorists a have been concerned about over the years and may help you to understand why we are still paranoid and are so ready to declare prejudice to this day.

Re: Brentford v Leeds Utd Match Thread - Post Match Debate
I've been positive so far this season. But lots to whine about today.
I thought we played well against Everton. But that result could have been similar to today's. We dominated possession in both games but just make mistakes at the back and get hit on the break too easily.
Llorente had several mistakes and Koch was even a little ragged today. But also our system didn't help the defence. It was noticeable that Roca was playing much further upfield than he had previously this season. And that left us a lot more exposed on the counter.
The officiating was poor. But I don't think that changes the result. Brentford were the better team. We had the bulk of possession, but Brentford were just better than us.

We were in it even at 3-1 , we were constantly troubling their defence. We got the 2nd and I was very confident we'd go on and get at least a point until we immediately gifted them their 4th. The scoreline makes it look like a complete rout but it was far from that. We looked good going forward and PB got a good 45 mins under his belt even though he missed a sitter my granny would've popped in. The midfield is looking solid but Roca needs to watch how far forward he's going so as not to leave the defence over exposed. The defence is the major concern as we look more than capable of imploding at any given time , Llorent in particular. Drameh played quite well as it goes but will be back up to Ayling/ Rasmus generally. Pascal is doing well at lb considering. Llorent has to make way he's just to error prone and gets bullied too easily. Forest is now a massive game , lose it and we're in free fall but if Bournemouth can beat them away after being 2 down I'm fkn dammed sure we can beat them at ER !

Re: Brentford v Leeds Utd Match Thread - Gelhardt and Drameh Start
Was wondering at the time if Koch touched the ball.faaip wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:38 pm It's an interesting one, Koch got the last touch but then it becomes on weather that touch is deliberate, you can be offside even if the defender touches it last but it needs to be an intentional touch, which I don't think it was. Koch I would imagine was trying to head the ball forward. So yes Mbuemo was offside technically

The FA has never had our back in Europe. But other English clubs have been defended. Reference 1975 ripping out a few seats in Paris getting banned. We come from a club harshly put down - Leeds City.BlackHillsPaul wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:16 pm I don't recall what I have said on the subject. Have I rejected the idea that there is an institutional bias against LUFC? I'll admit that I don't usually go in for conspiracy theories. Having said that, I have seen enough Premier League football to know that the big clubs DO get special treatment from Referees. How many times did we see Alex Ferguson drawn or down a goal at Old Trafford only to have the 4th official put up 8 minutes of stoppage time? So I am aware of those things.
I'll confess that I didn't know about any historical institutional bias against LUFC specifically. Other than the very harsh treatment the club received from the FA during its financial crisis. Perhaps I need to read the book. The proliferation of streaming services and platforms like YouTube have made it easier for supporters like me that live in in other countries to get information and follow the club. But that is a relatively recent development. With that in mind you might understand how I could be missing some context. It's one of the reasons I made the decision to join the MOT forum.
Its always been there we have been used as an "example" punishments galore. Points deductions, everything in the book.

That's the way i read it AJ. The player wasn't offside when the ball was played forward...but what sort of header was that by Koch? If the Brentford player doesn't touch it.... then he should be heading it forward. Also it was his clumsy tackle that led to the free kick. They really were the chuckle brothers today in defence him and Llorente.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 7:43 pm Koch did touch the ball last. The reason for the prolonged VAR review was to see if the Brentford player got a glancing header before Koch headed it

I thought it worked today BG. Obviously scored one, should have had another and tested the keeper from the edge of the box atleast once. What i have seen so far he's not one we should be relying on for pace.BGwhite wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 7:33 pm We were in it even at 3-1 , we were constantly troubling their defence. In a parallel universe on another day the tackle by sini is deemed a good one, Toney's freekick doesn't hit the top corner, Mesliers sweeper clearance goes into row d, Koch does his job and heads the ball forwards.... but there is no place in the galaxy for Llorente's clusterf*ck.

It may seem counterintuitive to say that we were the better footballing team after a 5-2 defeat but I genuinely thought we played the better football. They were obviously far more clinical with their chances and our defence (especially Llorente of course) was poor but as faaip’s statistics show we edged the game in most aspects apart the most important one - goals.
Again I’m not overly despondent, which normally I would be after such a score line, because, given a level playing field from the officials (some hope!), playing generally as well as that but with a tighter defence, we should be ok this season.

Away on a long weekend break in Filey so didn't see the game, kept getting updates which indicated another bad day at the office but having read alot of your comments it seems we should have faired better. Oh well, on to Forest. I have always believed that without signing a striker and left back we would win a few and lose quite alot but hopefully gain enough points to survive....I think its going to be a close call

I haven't seen it again but when the ball was played from the Brentford half he wasn't offside and since Koch was the only one to touch it he still wasn't offside.faaip wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:38 pm It's an interesting one, Koch got the last touch but then it becomes on weather that touch is deliberate, you can be offside even if the defender touches it last but it needs to be an intentional touch, which I don't think it was. Just watching highlights, we don't look bad but the defence is a bit of a joke. Probably quite a few goals to be shipped this season.

Now I’ve added my first half of actually watching to the 2nd half of MOTD I’d agree.Byebyegeegee wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 8:12 pm It may seem counterintuitive to say that we were the better footballing team after a 5-2 defeat but I genuinely thought we played the better football. Some bizarre stuff in that game. Massively flattered by 5-2. Give it to Toney like we did and guess what he scores.
VAR is a terrible and not funny joke..

Don’t really think Jesse was that bad. Not surprised he was pissed of with some of the rank bad decisions. Ref in the Forest v Bournemouth game had the balls not to be bullied by VAR. Absolutely convinced the ref today knows he got the pen decision wrong
