I didn't know that Michael Dempsey, who played bass for The Cure on their first LP, and sang lead vocals on Foxy Lady, played bass for The Associates 8-)

No wonder I loved the bass lines on The Associates songs

Madness
Dire Straits
Ultravox

Love the Dexy's album Marie selected, beautiful soul album with a Celtic twist. I was lucky enough to see them live in 1979, supporting The Selecter and The Specials, at my first live gig. What a brilliant night that was, three fantastic bands for the cost of 3 squid. Amazing live bands, and man that was so exhilarating it took me weeks to calm down a bit

I saw The Selecter again a few months after that, supported by The Bodysnatchers, and Holly and the Italians, which was another great night. I'm still in love with Pauline Black after all these years

I was at the time and still am really, very disappointed with Too Rye Aye. Coming after the stunning Searching For The Young soul Rebels it didn't match up at all for me ... The later sits in my 80's top 5 albums to this day along with Cope and Co's Kilimanjaro

I remember the Kiljoys too
