Poor Robbie suffered pain 24 hours a day in his latter life.

Doctors were said to have told Robbie in the past — when he was thought to have been more than 20st — he must lose 7st or risk facing life as a "cripple".

Drinking bottles of whiskey every week wouldn't have done his health any good. He did well to make it to 72yo, tbh

RIP Robbie, thanks for the memories.

RIP Robbie.

Sad to hear he was in such pain.

Interesting situation. If you do something that is legal where you live are you guilty of a crime somewhere else where it isn't legal?

He was 22 she was 13 . . . . . Legal or not was still a scandal even in the 50s.

Country singer Loretta Lynn, who died a few weeks ago, also married at 13 and had four kids by the time she was 20.

Putting aside the argument around the legality of him marrying his 13 yr old cousin (even typing it, it sounds wrong), he was, by all accounts, an abusive c*nt and really not a very nice individual at all. That said, if we can't or won't separate the art from the artist, then we're going to be fishing in a very shallow pond. And Jerry Lee made some mighty fine music, and he was the last of th golden age of rock n rollers. Recognising that does not, in and of itself, signify support or approval of his lifestyle choices. Which were pretty ugly. For the music, RIP Jerry Lee

JLL was a genius for me, Loving Up a Storm a classic still. Great Balls not so much

I skip Great Balls if I'm listening to JLL in compilation, been played to death and he has so many other great tracks. I, too, would rather flawed genius than mediocrity.

Mimi Parker, drummer and vocalist for the band Low.

Had tickets to see them later this month, cancelled because she was having tests. Her harmonies in that band comprise some of my favourite music of the last twenty years. Very sad.
