Keagan Kirkby, a West Country point-to-point rider and a member of Paul Nicholls' team, has died following a fall at Charing point-to-point in Kent on Sunday.

Kirkby, 25, joined Nicholls' yard in 2019 and had been an integral part of the team, having been shortlisted for the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards this year.

A statement from the Injured Jockeys Fund said: "It is with deep sadness that we have to report that West Country point-to-point rider, Keagan Kirkby, 25, has died following a fall at Charing point-to-point in Kent today.

"His horse, trained locally, ran out through the wing of a fence on the second circuit of the final race. The on-course medical team attended immediately and despite additional support from a 999 helicopter emergency services crew, he could not be saved.

A horrific weekend for the Paul Nicholls team as they also tragically lost of their best horses Hermes Allen at Sandown on Saturday

RIP Keegan & Hermes.
Absolute shocker. Very sad.
It’s a dangerous sport for horse & rider.

Sad news indeed, Ian Lavender will remembered fondly for his wonderful Dads Army character Private Pike.
This is when the BBC used to make the best sitcoms in the world.

Former United striker Ian Lawson has died aged 84.
He was only at the club for a couple of seasons, scoring 17 league goals in 44 appearances, but 11 of those were vital in the promotion season 63/4.
He only played three more games for the club once promotion had been gained, just pre-dating my first ever match.
An unsung hero.
RIP

RIP Dan Hillier, some may be familiar with his album art work for Royal Blood and various other projects like the Requiem TV titles.

Definitely an unsung hero, Jim

My first season following Leeds, I think Ian scored those 11 goals in around 25 games, excellent strike rate & vital towards our promotion.

RIP Ian.

Can’t stand the radio generally but I remember his Mr Angry from Purley. I suppose he was quite unique at the time with the characters etc.

BBC Radio is shockingly bad theses days, the music is s**t and the TV channels are even worse.

Steve was a good guy unlike many old dodgy DJ's of the past, he'll be missed by many people.
