We have friends staying with us this week going to Seahouses next week, they say thanks for the info on the Black Swan. I should really have kept it quiet because they are Bradford City fans.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 9:13 pm Not off to good start this evening at our favourite restaurant last year.
Food was excellent, but the service was appalling. Last year we were looked after by a wonderful older lady who apparently only works during the day now. Tonight there were three young lasses waitressing who seem to be daydreaming, not attentive at all.
Firstly, after being shown to our table, it seemed there had been a food fight as the surrounding floor & under the table was littered with food, so before sitting down, I had to ask for the floor to be clean up.
Then we had to wait 15 minutes to place our order.
Our main course arrived half an hour later.
Then, another waitress asked would we like a dessert, ten minutes later we were still waiting for the dessert menu. In the end, Jill got up & had to ask for one.
My poached pear was sliding round my ice-cream like a top, so I asked for a fork, you guessed it, the fork never arrived, so I pinched one off a vacant table.
I said to Jill, we'll skip the coffee & I'll go pay the bill.
Anyway I'm at the till area, and one of the waitresses is five yards away yacking to someone near the bar, she was totally unaware I was stood there for a few minutes.
I decided to check the Trip Advisor reviews on the Black Swan, and there it is in black & white, several similar complaints over the last few weeks.

So disappointing OB, as it's been spoilt by young lasses who wouldn't know a good service if it smacked them in the face, last year's little gem has turned into a mess!Orange Box wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 12:42 pm We have friends staying with us this week going to Seahouses next week, they say thanks for the info on the Black Swan. Look out for the rest of my restaurant reviews this week, OB.
The White Swan at Warenford tonight, which has never let us down, yet.
Trying three places new to us during the week.

You can inform your friends OB, that The White Swan at Belford (9 miles from Seahouses) is a must dining out experience. Delicious food served up by friendly, efficient staff, the menu is extensive (spoilt for choice) & is great value, £25 cheaper than the disappointing Black Swan, yesterday.Orange Box wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 12:42 pm We have friends staying with us this week going to Seahouses next week, they say thanks for the info on the Black Swan. We generally visit The White Swan at least twice during our stay, reserved a table for Saturday evening
The White Swan never fails to deliver!

It’s so exciting. Our friends can’t wait to go Seahorses next week. I can’t wait for them to go either.

Re: Seahouses (Northumberland)
Swannies place it is. but is it Belford or Warenford as per your previous post. This is important, I’m not being held responsible for them turning up to wrong gig.1964white wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 8:43 pm You can inform your friends OB, that The White Swan at Belford (9 miles from Seahouses) is a must dining out experience.
