17 year old Blackpool FC forward becomes the first openly gay male professional footballer since Justin Fashanu.
Speaks extremely well and its about time.
It's sad that this is still newsworthy in 2022.
Hopefully inspires more to come forward and this just becomes the Norm as it already should be.

Indeed.
I am very much looking forward to the day when this is the giant non-issue it ought to be.

I thought Robbie Rogers came out just after he left us....??
And I don't see that it matters a fetid dingos kidney who they want to do it with....

Good for Jake, I wish him all the best in life
His brother Jack breaks a few barriers down if you sup enough of it

Got to admit Riot, when I quickly saw the thread title I read it as Jack Daniels, so was anticipating a football/bourbon story

I can't believe this story is making headline news on the BBC this morning, they've even sent a reporter to Blackpool to announce it, another waste of money.

Really shouldn't matter a jot or be newsworthy, but in the still macho world of football, it is. There are thousands of professional footballers, the law of averages tells you that there are more gay men than just Jake earning a living playing football. Hopefully his decision to speak will encourage others, you shouldn't have to hide what you are in the 21st century.

Tiresome stuff. I see the BBC are also running this "story".
I really couldn't give a damn what Jake Daniels gets up to in his spare time.

To me, it is not newsworthy, certainly not headline news.
I worked in Brighton during the 80's for a year, an area with a large gay community, never concerned me that the people I was working with & was serving in my job were gay. That was 35 years ago FFS!
Truly don't get all the fuss now in the 21st century.

Trouble is while there’s still so much homophobia & racism in the world it will continue to make the headlines.
Sometimes I think we’ve progressed from the dark ages but then, no definitely not.
Ipswich won’t fade. As predicted.

I thought this was going to be a thread about my favourite drink. I misread the title.
