Damned sure he might!

I think much of it will depend on what players are available to him.
With so many injuries right now, our squad is severely depleted once again.
We need a couple more signings, have a feeling our transfer business is done for the summer.

Difficult mind, do you play the first team and risk injury from lower league cloggers, or do you play the second string and face the wrath of the supporters

Re: EFL CUP
Thats the conundrum of the EFL cup, we could have a decent run, on the other hand we could collect needless injuries, my preference would be the FA cup, more prestige, and by January, we ought to know how our season looks to be panning out.
In the EFL cup, I wouldn't mind one little bit if we gave all those seriously considered for for team action, non first 11 starters, a run, 90 minutes for the back-up-boys, we now appear to have a bigger squad to be able to do it.

We don't have the luxury of others.
Play all the fringe players, give the players who are perhaps on the verge of breaking into the first team, the spot you have in mind for them, for example, if you feel Greenwood is a possible No.10, give him that role and tell him to show us what he's all about.
Ask people like Summerville..." c'mon Summerville, what do you think is your best position"...." Right wing boss"......" Right, well there you go son, get out there and show me"
" Hey Drameh you mouthy git, you reckon you're a better right back than Rasmus, well get out there then, i want you flying down that flank, busting a fcking gut, press press press, and you'd better get back into defence when we lose possession, or you're being loaned out to Accrington Stanley"
" Joseph, bang 4 in here and you're on the bench Saturday with a view to coming on for the last 15"

Agree with MC here if we have a go at a Cup gotta be the FA Cup for me so let the wannabes have a run out in the EFL Cupmentalcase wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:29 pm My preference would be the FA cup, more prestige, and by January, we ought to know how our season looks to be panning out.

A bumble bee under the laws of physics shouldnt be able to fly, but it does because no one has told it that it can't
Re: EFL CUP
But we never do! There's always an excuse when it comes to the FA Cup. In the 20/21 season, we had no threat from relegation, but Bielsa stuck the u23s out against Crawley and we were humiliated.
Best to try in the Carabao Cup first. I could understand maybe resting players who will go to the World Cup, Aaronson, Adams, Koch etc but no excuses for me to not take it seriously.

Re: 2022/23 EFL CUP
Personally I'd always play to win but I'm not fussed if JM decides to use a weakened team
Something like this works for me
Joel Robles
Cody Drameh
Pascal Struijk
Robin Koch
Diego Llorente
Tyler Adams
Brendon Aaronsen
Archie Gray
Patrick Bamford if fit
Rodrigo
Luis Sinisterra

Actually I wouldn't let Drameh go anywhere right now... I think Ayling is a few weeks away then conditioning plus Kristensen hasn't made the position his own yet
