Time to sell Bamford ?
So Bamford's stats so far for this season are ; 10 appearances, 0 goals and 1 assist. That one assist was actually a mis control !
He's 29, and the memory of his one successful season in the PL is rapidly fading. His glaring misses so far this season have cost the club a few valuable points which would have moved us up the table by several places. Nearly half the time he has been at the club he has been injured. He's on 75K a week wages due to dining out on that one good season. Even in the promotion season there were major concerns about his finishing ability, which ultimately is likely to cost the club 20m for the JKA fiasco.
Wouldn't it be best to try and sell him in the January window if we are able to either sign another no 9 permanently or on loan ? It would save nearly 4m in wages which could be diverted to finding a decent no 9 - even just on loan, which might be better anyway. We don't want any more strikers on long contracts who turn out to be ineffective.
At least this way other clubs will still have that 16 goal season fairly fresh in their minds, so it may be possible to get a decent fee for him. The other alternative is to let him continue dining out on that one good season, and keep him at the club into his early 30s with the risk of further injuries and more abject performances and glaring misses that cost the club points. That way the club could cling on to a possibly forlorn and deluded hope that he will revert back to being Paddy the superstar striker of that one season.

Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
There was once a player at WBA , Said Berahinho , at the time he was pretty much rated equal to the then emerging Harry Kane , indeed I believe Spurs bid £20m for him but he ended up at Stoke . His career was made on the back of one brilliant season, 2014/15 . While his attitude was awful , entitled .....something you can't apply to Bamford , the point is that some players have a reputation for one or two seasons and Bamford is a perfect example of this .He had a good promotion season and a brilliant first PL season , has since been blighted by injury and is now nowhere near being good enough , playing from memory alone , th reflexes , speed and all are gone and either need work , or it's just plain gone. There are players such a Joffy who deserve to be far ahead in the first team , forget history and reputation, you have to go by what it is NOW .Sell Bamford ? well not sure you would even get much for him, but striker is certainly a position that need looking at transfer wise , Bamford is not the answer , there are players at Leeds now that are miles ahead of him and you now have the age old Bamford problem ....missing sitters and trying to do too much technically and just screwing it up . Move on .
Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
£75k a week, who's gonna want him?! And those that do (Championship) can't afford those wages.
I believe it's 10 big chances missed this season now. And all are them are from him refusing to use his right foot!
We should try and get Nketiah on loan in January. Not getting games at Arsenal.

I'd give him away, he's done

Out best forward by a mile, when fit.

It's more he can't score unless the stadium is empty. He struggled in the Championship too and cost us a lot of points.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 12:01 pm He's not been fit for 18 months unfortunately! Was in his prime years 18 months ago and now 'seems' shot (again, unfortunately)...
Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
And yet we always play better with Bamford in the team, so get rid and replace with...?
Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
Absolutely time for him to leave. Stealing a wage for some time now, replace with a fitter more accomplished prospect or proven scorer. He's always missed the big chances and injury prone. I actually felt sorry for him when he was picked for England, way out of his depth.

No, too early and impossible to replace.. But he shouldn't be starting till at least the new year...

He is a match winner when he is fit. Trouble is he hasn't been fit since the days of Murder Ball.
Sell him, no......he is still worth keeping

Is the same posters asking for him to be sold that also moan our squad is shallow?

Don’t think there will be a big queue of clubs looking to buy him on those wages

Not time to sell.

Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
Don't be silly! His statistics this season are laughable. His lack of composure in finishing is mockable. But he makes us better every time he steps on the pitch. His positional awareness and ability to find space are second to none in our squad. Other players are getting chances because he is on the pitch. But ffs it would be nice if he scored a goal once in awhile...

Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
No. His body is currently letting him down and his confidence is shot. I wouldn't sell, not sure there'd be much interest, but he needs dropping and a spell in the U21s to get fit and find his shooting boots again. He leads the line well and we do look better when he's up top, but not at the minute.

Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
Would be absolutely no point selling him now as we would get peanuts. Better to get him back to full fitness, be it in the first team or U21s and see if he can start scoring again because a fully fit Bamford is a better fit for the system and we have seen time and time again that he can look awful in front of net then go on a run of games where he is scoring. His confidence at the moment appears to be extremely low but all it takes for a striker is to get 1 goal and suddenly they can look like a different player.
Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
His first touch / control was akin to a non league player yesterday but as others have stated, we wouldn't get much for him at present.
The best part of 18 months out injured have certainly affected him so he needs some U21 games in between first team sub appearances to get his confidence back.

Re: Time to sell Bamford ?
Nobody is buying a player pushing 30 on £75k a week whom it's been publicly acknowledged can hardly train and has hardly trained for over a year and whose been plagued by injuries for years on and off.
Not to mention is so rusty and confidence is so shot he has totally lost the use of his right foot.
Paddy bless him is here to stay and I find it quite sad to watch him now.
Should be remembered that Marsch never wanted to rely on Bamford (or Rodrigo for that matter) and is only doing so because the board didnt get him the first choice striker he wanted.
