What happened to developing our own talent anyway? Guarantee our own youth are better than some of the players we've signed.

Maybe not skint. But maybe in limbo. Probably forced to balance books. And stays that way until ownership situation is resolved.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 12:04 pm I really think we are skint.
Net spend of 0 after finishing 17th and surviving by the skin of our teeth.
Majority shareholder being sued for £300million.
Minority shareholder quiet as church mice and never invest capital.
Pretty obvious we were operating on a sell to buy policy (Orta was very proud of the fact we spent the KP and Raph cash).
Do we have to wait for someone to buy Harrison before we buy?
What if no one bids for anyone of our players?
What about the £6mil JKA installment that is due (or the £18mil total figure) Kinnear said years back the money was there if needed, he lied, isn't in our accounts.
Many questions.

Re: January 2023 Transfers and Squad Discussion
That's what I'm not getting now. Drameh just needs a run 9f games. I guarantee he could start for most of the bottom half. He's not better than Rasmus. But he'd be a great back up and sub.
Ayling has been brilliant for us. But his contract his almost up. Drameh should be more involved. We might get a few quid for him now based on his Championship performances last season. But if we keep him, he'll be worth even more money.
Re: January 2023 Transfers and Squad Discussion
Oh I meant developing our own talent in the academy rather than constantly buying u21s and blocking their development. Gray, McGrath, Coleman all look like talents. I'd rather see them get a chance than buy more u21s. We must have spent about £60m or so.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 6:28 pm That's what I'm not getting now. I don't see how we could be in the position to turn down bids for Drameh if there's no money. It's not like he will play anyway.

Jesus Vasquez
22 senior appearances for Valencia in La Liga and Copa Del Rey.
Only 4 appearances this season.
New Agent is shopping him around.
I think this would be a mistake....

F*** sake, here you go again with Bielsa. Obsessed.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 11:51 am All that money wasted on James, Firpo and JKA which could have bought a top CB and left back.
Actually, there's a quite case growing against Bielsa and his influence on signings and departures ;
1) JKA seems to be a player that Bielsa wanted to sign so Orta got him.....
2) Selling Janssson ( for peanuts ) has massively contributed to the defensive woes since his depature ( with the exception of the Ben White sticking plaster fix )
3) Dan James was a weird Bielsa signing obsession.
4) Llorente and Firpo must have been approved by Bielsa, or maybe he ever suggested them to Orta.
It's very noticeable that the signings have improved markedly since Marsch took over.

I'm sure several will be. A few off on international duty. A few injured. They need some extra bodies in the squad. It's always been the case that a few of the fringe 21's train with the 1st team.

If we lose Drameh it will be a shocking waste of our own making, he'll be a star in the next few years somewhere. Can't blame Marsch for that one.SG90 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 10:13 am He's ooc in 2024 and doesn't look like signing a new deal. Leeds fans abused him after he dared to go out on loan and he said it really affected him. The fact he's still playing u21s at his age doesn't help either.
Sell to Dortmund for £10m and put a 15% sell on clause, so when scum sign him for £100m, we benefit financially. Use the £10m for a LB or a few loan signings.
It's what happens when you prioritise sentiment over progression. Ayling should've gone in summer 2021 and have Cody compete with a new signing.
The likes of Hjelde and Perkins could be next. They won't stick around for u21s.

Can blame Marsh. Could play him a bit more. Ayling is a club legend now. But will leave at end of season. Should be investing more in Drameh.Carrick Dave wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 10:58 pm If we lose Drameh it will be a shocking waste of our own making, he'll be a star in the next few years somewhere. I'm mad as hell on this one. Drameh is a quality player and deserves more 1st team experience.

Not a legend for me. Surely more than promotion is needed to be a legend?andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 11:25 pm Can blame Marsh. Could play him a bit more. Ayling is a club legend now. But will leave at end of season. Should be investing more in Drameh.

Sky Italy linking us with Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic.
He plays for Torino in Italy and looks set to move on having admitted he has "big ambitions" and has rejected a new deal.
Probably counts us out with that comment tbf
A fee between £10-12mil would be needed.
Live in hope that our board has realised you can't operate a Premier League club with 2 senior midfielders.
