Boos rang out upon the final whistle from large sections of Norwich fans, as Leeds, led by their very own Steve McQueen, (though he happens to be German) completed their very own 'Great Escape' from Carrow Road. It's not very often that teams recover from a two-nil deficit, let alone end up winning, but almost two years to the day since being given his marching orders, General Farke returned to Carrow Road to knock the Canaries of their perch.

The Whites had found themselves with a mountain to climb at half time, after Shane Duffy and Gabriel Sara had given the Canaries what looked like being an unassailable lead. Farke's troops had more than enough chances to be on level terms, but unlike the home side squandered their opportunities in front of goal.

Leeds needed a bit of luck, the same fortune that had deserted them during the opening half, and it came in the form of Shane Duffy. With just over an hour on the clock, Rutter led a 60 yard charge, before releasing James down the right flank. The Welsh International had just about enough pace to cut the ball across goal before it went out of play. It somehow deceived Gunn who looked odds on to make the save, hit Duffy on the knee, and into his own net.

From that moment on, Leeds started to turn the screw. As the home side began to tire, Leeds were able to call on the services of Ayling, Cooper, Bamford, Anthony and Gnonto. The changes made a massive difference to second half proceedings. With 13 minutes to go, Summerville curled an exquisite effort past the despairing dive of Gunn from the edge of the 'D', from all of 30 yards.

Most teams would have been satisfied to pick up a point having been two down, away from home, but not Leeds. With five minutes remaining on the clock, Rutter (on defensive duties) released Summerville as he charged past the half way line. After weaving in and out of traffic, he release a ferocious drive from the edge of the area, sending the travelling contingent delirious.

But at one point we had
Gnonto
Bamford
Summerville
Rutter
Piroe
James.

All on the pitch at once.

Who was playing where? Any ideas

I just know that they were all given a man to mark each

Farke has done wonders given what he was faced with when he arrived.
Yeah if all the players he currently has available were available for the pre season friendlies, and DF had had a summer with them all, i think we'd have at least 6pts more now and possibly 7 after our first 6 games, you only have to think back to his bench.

On Saturday he brought players on from the bench to make a comeback.

It's been a gradual improvement, involving players returning, squad improvement, getting his ways across, and good old common sense stuff really.

And not a clown in sight.

We defended better in the second-half, great going forward.

Fantastic watch. :-D
I just watched it again too 64.
A few things struck me:
- Summerville was even more sensational on 2nd viewing. I do wish he'd sometimes just shoot on first touch in the box. He did that last week and was unlucky not to score. But good grief he was sensational.

- equally better on second view was Pascal. He was immense in defense and also is finding his voice and confidence as captain.

- cjay has questioned why DF seems to adopt a different setup for away games. I saw that in terms of how high he had the 2 backs playing. Byrum and Archie were far more wings than backs and it didn't work - both seemed a bit at sea.

- Dan James' workrate deserves mention. He ran his butt off. Getting to Georgie's pass that led to the first goal was amazing - he even fell over the hoardings in the process!

- Loved the self belief. At no point did you see heads dropping.

Good stuff lads.

It paid off, won't always be the case, wouldn't matter if we'd put our chances away.

At the end of the day does it really matter who played where, as long as we won. I think people can sometimes be too critical of how a team must play, how the tactics must be. If your chasing the game you get your best players on the pitch and you try and win it.
Anyone who thinks Farke doesn't go through situations like this in practice is mistaken. They will have spent lots of time trying different formations in practice games, some will work some wont. As much as we all like to have our say and think we are as smart as Farke regarding formations and tactics, i somehow doubt we are :)
