There are victories that earn you three points, and then there are victories that make the rest of the Premier League sit up and take notice; last night we saw the latter. Under the Elland Road lights, Daniel Farke’s side did not simply beat Newcastle, they overwhelmed them, and produced the sort of performance that makes you wonder just how high the ceiling might be for Leeds United this season. The Whites dominated the first half-hour but had little to show for their efforts.

The game exploded into life in the 32nd minute, when Ao Tanaka’s effort from the edge of the area took a double deflection and left Lukas Horní?ek with no chance. Once they had breached the goal, the floodgates opened. Less than three minutes later it was 2-0. Jayden Bogle was credited with the second after Dominic Calvert-Lewin rose highest in the Newcastle penalty area, and powered his header past Hornicek.

Elland Road was rocking from the rafters, but then came the killer. Deep into first-half stoppage time, the former Toffee made it 3-0, finishing calmly across goal like it was a pre-season game. Remarkably, it was already the striker’s eighth career goal against Newcastle, the same number Harvey Barnes has scored against Leeds. With James Trafford between the sticks for the home side, though, the former Leicester City man never looked like adding to his tally.

Leeds were not interested in simply protecting their lead. On 59 minutes, Noah Okafor made it 4-0, finishing another Leeds attack and turning what had already been an excellent night into a demolition. Bazoumana Touré eventually pulled one back in the 90th minute, but nobody inside Elland Road particularly cared.

By the way I never mentioned Trafford and the symbol that seperates Struijk and Tarik is roughly equals.
Not trying to win anything - Sub.
I always enjoy your posts - but I just sensed on this one you were started making some points that I'm not sure many will agree with, and simply wanted the last word - which you can reply to now if you like and have it. :) 8-)

I personally don't like trying to find negatives just for the sake of doing so.
What matters really I supopse is we are looking pretty good right now - long may it continue.

Bard = Byrum and Bornaauw = Elvedi???
And Struik defintely does not equal Tarik.

Trafford does not equal Darlow

Give your head a shake

But you are now arguing for the sake of arguing. Nothng productive here anymore.

Tarik has already been my MOTM four times in our first six games, with an average rating of 8.6, imo!

His class has seen Tarik settle in Premier League football immediately.
Its very early days of course but some analysts, including a few who hate saying anything positive about Leeds, are calling our defense one of the best in the league right now.

We'll still have off days and lose some games of course, but right now our defense is enabling the midield and attack to have more options.
Gabi, Justin and Bogle are able to sprint forward with more confidence than last year because the backline is solid as a rock.

With players like James and Wilson on the bench we can also add pace to this formation in the second half.

Im looking forward to seeing how this sqaud settling into its rhythm as the season goes on.

The whole Muha/Struijk argument is basically an argument in semantics, both are high quality left footed CB. We signed Muha not as an upgrade but as a like for like replacement because Pascal wanted to move on. If Pascal stays, Tarik doesn't get bought

Bornauw = Elvedi
Bard = Byram
Bijol = Bijol
Rodon = Rodon
Muha ≈ Struijk
Bogle = Bogle
Gudmundsson = Gudmundsson
Justin = Justin

If we have more defenders than last year then I've had a brain fart and forgotten to include them in my list

I like this defence we have now, prefer Bijol over Elvedi tbh at sweeper but that's a toss up. I'd rate it as an 8 if forced to do so
I liked last seasons defence, I'd rate it as an 8 if forced to do so

Even you seem to concede that Tarik looks an upgrade on Struijk.
A small upgrade, yes. I've never said anything else. But again not the point I was debating.
