Dya really wanna go round in circles again, we lost PB, we had no other like him ffs, he tried other things, the closest we had to do the job he wanted was DJ and his speed ffs...HE DID NOT WANT HIM THERE, HE DID NOT WANT ROBERTS THERE, HE DID NOT WANT RODRIGO THERE !!!....and guess what, he tried because that's all he had (didn't he even try Jack there, i can't remember).....but i'm pretty sure he didn't want Jack there.

I'll tell you a story, a few years back when your goalie was sent off, one of your strikers might've gone in the nets, are you one of those that would say...'why would the manager have put our striker in the nets?'

He turned PB into a player that Spurs were willing to pay £30m for (if Kane had gone to City). Hard to then spend £30m for a back up for PB to sit on the bench. Same with KP, turned him into a £50m player. We couldn't then spend £50m for a back up for KP. The main reason we now have 2 or 3 more midfielders is due to the sale of KP. MB wanted Lewis O'Brien last season, presumably as the back-up and eventual replacement for KP. In hindsight we might have been better off buying him. It may be that O'Brien, under MB, would have gone on to be another £50m+ type player.

Very easy to judge in hindsight but no real suggestion that PB was going to miss nearly all the season given he had hardly missed a game for 2 years.

I do not deny that MB did wonders with those two.

But seriously, the idea that MB is blameless in us not having any sort of backup for PB or KP after 3 seasons is just ridiculous.
The idea that Rodrigo (good enough striker to be selected as Spain’s number 9) was never given an opportunity in the role is equally absurd. As Kenny correctly identified, it’s a ‘no brainer’.

PB runs the lines and closes down the CB's but he wastes a lot of chances. We don't need a back up to him we need an improvement. That's why the club are reluctant to spend money; there isn't a better option available to us ATM.
Sarr, Diaz etc.. are a waste of money; might as well let the young 'uns have a go.

Watkins would take PB's place but we can't afford him; same with Terrier. Plus the age they're at means we would not get any re-sale value.

It's funny how 10 minutes can completely alter the landscape in football.

Seventy one minutes into the game at St Mary's on Saturday and Leeds were two up, third on the live table and singing in the sunshine.

That mood was eclipsed with two concessions in quick succession. The goals conceded exploited both Leeds' tactical system, by targeting the full-backs and switching the ball quickly, as well as their lack of squad depth.

Rasmus Kristensen was the Whites' one specialist full-back on the pitch. Inexperienced in the Premier League, he should have done better for all three goals conceded this season. And while he may grow into the role, Pascal Struijk is not a full-back.

There is a general feeling that Leeds will do better this campaign, but how congested the bottom will be is unknown. If Fulham and Nottingham Forest can extend their form, the gap between the relegation zone and mid-table will likely be extremely tight.

The Peacocks will face much stronger opponents than Wolves and Southampton this season and with Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt, and Junior Firpo out, the mooted remaining incomings of a striker and left-back would seem prudent.
