As for Bamford, it's just rustiness. He just can't get the ball out of his feet, get it to drop in the right place for him. Super low on confidence. Wish we'd had Rodrigo or Klich on for the penalty. Would rather Bamford didn't take it. But thought probably was, he scores his 100th goal, breaks the dry spell and gets going again. Still ... lots of positives from Paddy. He makes us much better
You can't keep making excuses every week Andrew. At some point he has to start scoring or he'll cost us our place in the league. The club have been over loyal once again, rather than ruthless.

The excuses are valid. But you're right. We can't keep dropping points. My fear is he will hit his stride then get injured again.

Today was a bit of a bonus game. But we have to put chances away against Leicester, Fulham, and Bournemouth.

He does and isn't his fault the club are having to rely on a half fit rusty as he'll Bamford.

Just frustrated I guess.

Quality number 9 as we needed anyway gets a couple today

He has never been a natural goalscorer tbh.

Even fully fit its never been his strongest point.

A striker playing in that title winning Bielsa side should easily get 20-25 goals.

John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 3:54 pm Hard to argue with any of that.

We were clearly the better side. Understand what Jesse means when he says nothing's wrong we just need to score goals. The system worked exceptionally well today. Even first half, utterly dominant in the second.

I imagine the players are just as angry and frustrated as we are. Now we need to batter Leicester.
It did John tbf.

It just seemed to click.

Noticeable that our 2 best performances have come against much more talented yet attacking teams who actually want to play a football match and not camp on the edge of there box and fall over for 90mins.

Fair play today.

But we need to find a way to perform like that against the ones who want to do the latter because that is 90% of the league

You're right. We've got a better points per game against top 6 (1.5) than rest of league (0.9).

Didn’t see it but at home we’ve trashed Chelski and pushed top of the table Arsenal all the way in a game we obviously deserved a point in at least. So can we put to bed the idea we were lucky against Chelski.
Maybe Jesse not such a s**t manager eh. Give him a real goal scorer & how many more points do we have?

We take frustration to a whoe new level. At the minute it comes from the fact that the world and his wife knew we needed a striker, Jessie included. He put it out there, just voicing what we were all thinking but when you're faced with a board like ours, buckle up. I thought we were so much better than the current league leaders. We were just lacking that accuracy in front of goal. Sound familiar Victor, Radz, anybody?? For feck sake, you don't need a weatherman to tell you when it's pissing down.

That is a worry. It's no coincidence our best two performances were against sides who came to play football and not timewaste.

The best we have played all season. We outplayed the team leading the Premier League. Rodrigo's pass to set up their goal up was unforgivable. I don't think you can blame Messi for being beaten by a thunderbolt from 5 yards out. Bamford's penalty miss was a joke and although he was lively I've got to believe Gelhardt or Gnoto would have put away one of the other 4 or 5 chances he missed.
The referee with the help of VAR got everything right today. I think we saw VAR at its best today (unfortunately for us).
Overall a great game from us and f**k the board for not getting a striker in.

Jesse's system looked great today. Full credit. But the performances against the bottom half are what will define our season - and his future. Let's hope we turn things around against Leicester, Fulham, Bournemouth.

Ironic. Imagine if after the technical issues they'd have played the game without VAR. We don't get the first penalty but we do get the second one. Klich is on the field, knows Bamford is rusty, steps up for a Panenka ... And ...

Agreed. I wonder if all those 3 don’t look to play football. I would say they do

I wonder what the 49ers will do. Can they really allow Radz to chance it again in January? You only get lucky once.

Before today - on the opinion poll here - we were projecting our league position to be a concern come January. If we pull some surprises and move up to mid table, then fine. But if we're sitting on 16 points from 16 games, we absolutely must spend money in January.
