He's a good player in terms of most of his all round play - but just not a good finisher IMO. Maybe he should have been a no 10.

There is no 25 goal a season PL striker coming to Leeds. None. Leeds are not going to spend the money needed to bring in a top PL striker. And no top PL striker will look at the 70/80k upper wage limit at Leeds.

So here's the thing, Marsch either has to bring Bamford back to the level he reached 2 seasons ago. Or bring through one of the other players. That's part of his job, taking players and improving them.

When he had that good season in our first season back up he was largely injury free. But I also to think the fact there were no crowds took the pressure off him, and others.

Not having that there aren't hidden gems out there for a good price. This is where the celebrated DOF needs to start doing his homework. We don't need a 25 goal striker anyway, but a 10-15 goal one.

Unless fans are banned from stadiums again, Bamford is never replicating that.

Definitely. The last time he missed a penalty was against QPR when he was struggling in the Championship. He had one good season where he had no fans on his back.

And I'm sure that it was no coincidence. For me, Bamford and Harrison as well have some kind of mental fragility which stops them from being top class PL players. Sometimes you can think too much, over analyse and psyche yourself out of it.

Those hidden gems are very hard to find. We broke out the chequebook to replace Bamford before. JKA. It didn't work out. We then thought we had the next hidden gem from Wigan in our ranks. He gets a few minutes. We brought in another hidden gem, a full Italian international, he's not getting a look in yet.

We were told Gnonto wasn't ready yet though. Gelhardt was never prolific either.

While we still have Rodrigo to pay, we’re not signing a new high profile (expensive) striker.

And that's an excellent point Chapel

The top players in any sport thrive on pressure and it Spurs them on to even better performances, think of Botham, Tom Brady, Nick Faldo, Zidane, Federer, Tyson, etc.

Pressure is what they live for, doesn't phase them at all, because they have the mental strength to overcome it.

How many times do you see Jack throw his hands up and roll his eyes to the heavens, and Bamford constantly exudes self doubt, which maybe the injuries have played a part in.

That winning mentality is what helps the good become great, it's not just talent.

That is about it.

Though tbf I doubt we could attract anything more than an up and coming player.

And we have a few of those tucked around somewhere.

Plus I don't see any top striker coming here when we're just happy to be 17th and keep selling our best players.

That would be the death of their career.

Weasel will put this into words better than me, but don't get too excited by this performance, we now know we can play when teams play how WE want them to play and it suits Jesses game.

Others have already done their homework on us and want to spoil our fun by throwing 3-4 spanners in the works, i don't expect Rodgers Leicester to be one of those teams (although they are desperate themselves) so i'm expecting to beat then going off this performance.

But, and i know i keep saying it, this Leicester game is another mega interesting one.

We should do them if they play like Arsenal and try and play some football.

Is Brendan gonna alter his style to pull a fast one on us, is he gonna sit back ?

It's another puzzle for Jesse, coz until PB came on we weren't really threatening to score.

NB

PB showed all the hallmarks today of being rusty, a yard off the pace, and a player at 75% of his game, yet he still made a massive difference (that's the Bert in him that is) to our attacking play, we have no one like him at all.

JUST DON'T TAKE PENALTIES YA DUMB FCK, AND I DON'T CARE IF YOU ROLL THE NEXT ONE IN AND SEND THE KEEPER THE WRONG WAY, UR STILL A DUMB FCK FOR ROLLING IT IN !

I really don't understand why our young guns are not being given a chance? Gyabi, Gnonto and Gelhardt in particular.

Roca and Adams are looking great, but how does Klich keep getting minutes and Gyabi ain't even on the bench? What's he doing to command those minutes.

The treatment of Joffy especially is shocking. Bamford was out virtually all of season and yet Joffy was sat there watching Rodrigo, James and Roberts show how not to do it every week.

With the very limited time he was given Joffy made a big contribution to us staying up. That's Bielsa and Jesse both shunned him which will do nothing for his confidence and development.

Poor coaching decisions by both of them.

Yeah they do strike me like that, especially PB.

Expectations to perform are a huge pressure for any sportsperson to shoulder - and if that person does perform well for a short time in their career then there is the pressure to prove that it was not a flash in the pan. Look at Radacanu - she came from nowhere to win the US Open last year, but subsequently her mentality seems totally different, and with the sudden burden of expectation her performances and results have fallen off a cliff.

I'd love to see Archie Gray coming off the bench. Remember Milner all those years ago. If you're good enough, you're old enough.

Bamford has played 107 minutes of football this season.

He made us tick down the middle today, can't believe he is receiving so much flak.
