Totally schoolboy defending. We're a shambles. Against Leicester, Fulham, Palace. That clip where their attacker broke away from a free kick to a one-on-one with Meslier was horrendous. Any pub league team knows to have one, usually two players on the halfway line waiting for that.

We get sucked out of position worse than any team I've seen. The boys at "All Stats Aren't We" this weekend were saying it's frustrating because we concede the same goal every week. Teams commit us on one side, switch it to a wide open man on the other side, and score. It's so predictable. Wasn't so much of that today. But every goal resulted from an attacker either leaving his man standing or being totally isolated. Before today I kept saying Cooper organizes our back line better. I can't say that today.

People will point to Marsch's goal difference vs Bielsa's. That's not a fair comparison. We have to play 32% of our games against the top 6. 37% against the top 7 if you include Newcastle. This season we've only played 18% of our games against the top 7. We've been playing lower table teams and found desperately short defensively.

I'm ok with us not putting our chances away, with Bamford going through his impotent patch. But to take a 1-0 lead against Fulham and not at least get a draw is downright incompetent.

Two weeks ago, I heard Marsch saying that Maric had spent time with the defence and he'd been spending time with the attackers. I guess that means our manager knows fcuk all about defensive set ups.

There's something in that. We're great in the middle 2/3's of the pitch. Awful in the final 1/3 at either end. For our opponents it's the opposite. They're better in the areas that count - basically attacking the goal and defending the goal. Clearly Jesse has his focus all wrong. Wilko could tell him that. Focus on keeping it tight in your own box and making it count in their box. Nice that Jesse has his RBL principles. It might come good for us in a couple of years. Right now, we need someone with a little more pragmatism.

Nobody does what Adams does. I think Greenwood deserves more playing time. But if you want to go like for like, you'd be better with Aaronson in the number 8. He's the only that can rival Adams' workrate.

He'd be a lot better if Jesse played him in his strongest position (AML) and played to his strengths (getting deep on the left side and swing in crosses). Jackie is very much a square peg this year. He'll be worth a great deal more to another team/manager. Now, we're getting short on his contract and are about to lose millions on his potential value.
