I'm enjoying your suggestions Cjay and i agree with some, but we can't do a huge change midway, i'm happy to eventually do a huge change.

A change like Arteta made at Arsenal takes time, time we haven't got atm, and we definitely haven't the players, he'd have to be a really astute manager to do that change gradually.

It might work though, i just feel it's risky and better when they have more time, that's why i'm thinking big Sam for the time being.

I have good mates that know their footy and have said exactly the same about Sam as Weasel re attacking.

He gets his defence in order first then builds on it.

Victor_Notts-17 wrote: Mon Oct 24, 2022 12:51 pm I voted the board as that covers all bases but recruitment (none-recruitment) and bad purchases are also to blame. it's obvious that we have no money to spend else we'd have a new #9+LB. What money we have spent has been wasted (£100m on Rodrigo/Costa/Llorente/Firpo/James). Again is that Orta/board? Out of those 5 I mentioned, we would not miss any of them. The reason we have no money to spend is because we already spent it on those 5.

I don't have the answert as to where we go from here but this is how I see it: if we don't strengthen in January, we are getting relegated. Radz has gambled too many times and this year it is one gamble too many. Just shows how well Bielsa did getting 3 years out of mid-championship quality players (I would never doubt that). I believe Bielsa was too proud to ever mention how bad things really were: he really was a magician with the players he had.

Marsch is not Bielsa and he cannot get the players to play it seems. That said, the players Jesse has bought in are just about our best players. Not looking great is it? If Radz has no money to strengthen, he needs to find a buyer in January so we can build to stay in the Prem...
Do not count on spending money in January will save us, because if that money is put into this dick formation it'll screw us.

This system WILL NOT WORK, i don't care if you spend 100m in Jan, it will be wasted and could completely ruin us.

Their fans were willing to give him a chance, but some wanted him sacked as well, as they weren't winning enough.
I don’t think we’d be down regardless if we get the dream unobtainable manager. In other words we have the players already at the club to keep us up. A few more incoming wouldn’t hurt but we can stay up with this lot imo. Getting someone to channel it in the right direction is the issue and Marsch doesn’t look like another Potter to me. He is very tactically astute

Not without a striker we wont. Seems everyone thinks sacking Marsch will turn Bamfraud into Lewandowski, it won't. This is where Radz needs to decide to take the £400m or be greedy and chance he could get more or lose it all.

Exactly.

Thats the issue De Zerbi is having, it's identical.

All performance indicators will tell him and the board that.

It's the same as to the question "why go from Bielsa to Marsch, they aren't similar".

To the naked eye, one likes overloads in wide areas the other is very narrow etc, polar opposites.

But if you want to understand why Orta picked Marsch you have to understand what criteria he will have looked at.

Ppda
Vertical passing stats
Distance covered

All that sort of stuff, Marsch and Bielsa will have numbers similar in those areas because whilst they go about it differently (the pressing is a different method for instance).

The underlying numbers will tell you they are similar and that is why Orta thought the transition would be easy.

I haven't done it because I cba, but if you want to understand who he may replace Marsch with then those performance stats may give you an idea.

And that is why I dismissed Dyche and Big Sam and all them.

How he went from TC to Hecky is a total mystery, maybe his PC was down.

Dyche just screams desperation to me and proof we won't spend in January.

It's a "one eye on promotion" appointment.

Pundits always come up with the same guff about Dyche. The one about him only playing a long ball game because he hasn’t got the players for any other style.

Blimey, what would he do with our lot? Llorente up front to knock down long balls from Cooper?

In two years we will have gone from one of the best footballing teams to have graced Elland Road to neck braces for anyone sitting lower than the East Stand top tier.

I could weep.

My feeling there is that he sort of panicked, didn't really have a clue and thought giving the yorkshire people a no-nonsense yorkshireman would appease us.

For me though it would be more of a risk not changing the manager. It isn't like we have to win every match and we have seen with Marsch that the further we get away from the former tactics the worse we look.

Okay so Brighton had those bad finishes and their leading scorer got 10 in 19/20 and 8 in 2020/21. Considering that Rodrigo has already got 5 it sort of defeats your argument and shows that Brighton did pretty well tofinish as high as they did with considerably less goal output than we have got so far.

But if they sacked him when he was struggling, he'd be labelled a "fraud" now. Credit to them for believing in the manager.
