Thanks Cjay. Bonkers, what's happened to the traditional draw after the last match.

Would be guessing Joffy is cuptied having played against Cardiff.

Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 2:52 pm Not to mention they tired 2nd half.

It had some good play from our clearly superior players.

Certainly wasn't a tactical masterclass and a better side scores a few against us today.

We simply need to work out how to defend better.
And play as a team better. Just so frustrating watching us so pedestrian going forward. We have some great attacking players.

Yep, and Sunderland just had their only striker stretchered off. Joffy would have been on if he wasn't cup tied

Only caught the half or so, as had to go out, so will catch the rest on iPlayer. Didn't realise it was on tv and as soon as it turned on, Harrison scored  Buzzing to be in fifth round, these have always been the kind of ties we slip up in. Will it be 12 in a row or will we finally get a home tie?

I said all season we'll miss Adams when unavailable, as we are weak as pea-juice in midfield.

Jesse loves Greenwood for some unknown reason, playing more at his level today. Hopefully with Mckennie now signed, Sam will spend more time on the bench or in the U21s.

Harrison our best midfielder today by a wide margin.

From what I saw of Rutter, you could see what he was trying to do, and has excellent vision and dribbling, but can see the rawness. He looks like the kind of player who could become unplayable once it all comes together.

Did I hear the commentator say Rutter hasn't played since before the World Cup?

Is so, no wonder he appeared rusty today.

Just settled down with a cuppa Yorkshire, went over this morning, only an hour away, thought I'd chance my arm, walked about for 10 minutes, then unashamedly, walked right in behind a fella in an electric wheelchair , through the gate, unchecked and went toward the United end, spoke to a steward who let me across, doddle.
The system and picking certain players will cost Marsch his job, just like the man before him, and it will be well justified.
Despite his goal, firpo is abysmal, harrison was much better second half, but again, hopeless first half other than his goal, and greenwood was shocking, for all you that will no doubt have a go at me, I might not have had the best view today, bottom corner, but, this was a struggling league 1 side, the above 3 are supposed PL standard, harrison especially favoured by too many on here alone.
We did enough to get by, by come on, where was the complete dominance ?
Is this the catalyst we (JM) needs, is it his mark robins / forest moment !! very much doubt it, I have stood by JM for a long while now, never been a fan, but thinking the board back him, surely the tide will turn, well , the board have backed him, the system is shite, and, some of the players simply aren't good enough.
Happy we;re through though.

weasel wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 2:30 pm Watching the game today I would guess was exactly like how JM's Salzburg team played and won matches and titles. No real structure/tactics/control but winning because they simply had far better players than the opposition. Shame there are other teams with decent players in the league.

Rode our luck at times today but hey ho banana skin avoided. Hopefully another p*ss easy draw in the next round.
Was difficult to judge who was the Premier League team in the first 20 minutes.

Hopefully the injury isn't tooserious but will rule their striker out for a while and ensure Joe gets a good run of matches!

TBH Marsch's system encourages us to play like a lower league team, give away possession to press and close in numbers to try to catch the opposition out is a basic lower league mentality

Damn Fulham 1 Sunderland 1

Glad you are finally seeing the light.

Fair enough it is the cup and they were bound to raise their levels but we had a very strong team out and there was just no cohesion. It is just run around and then see if you have a team mate somewhere near- and it is the system/tactics that brings that. You can organise your players, tell them their positions etc but the difference between an average manager and a good to great manager is being able to knit a team together, get them moving and making it easier for the player with the ball. That is how you make a team better than the players in it, how you make a poor group of players into a decent team and a decent group of players into a great team.

The only way we improve under JM is simply by buying better and better players and having them play well until all their natural instincts are knocked out of thm by our tactics.

I would say for more than 20 minutes. The only real difference was our individual quality and then our superior fitness levels.
