Re: Accrington Stanley v Leeds Utd Match Thread - Record signing Georginio Rutter to make debut

No real structure/tactics/control but winning because they simply had far better players than the opposition. Shame there are other teams with decent players in the league.

Rode our luck at times today but hey ho banana skin avoided. Hopefully another p*ss easy draw in the next round.
I was really disappointed with the quality of our play overall. We had the better players. That showed. But we just turned the whole game into a scrappy clusterfck. At times we were really serious backs to the wall. We should have controlled the tempo of the game. But Jesse insists on his methods. You could justify that - maybe he saw it as a training game and didn't want to switch it up against weaker opposition. But it doesn't bear confidence. Hopefully we do have enough weapons to keep us up this season. But it's going to take a lot more on the pitch to convince me that Marsch deserves another season.

Jesses luck continues : We get winner of Sheff W/ Fleetwood

Runs out : We get a Prem team - Scum/Lpool/Citeh
We'll lose to Wednesday. Local derby and they'll want it more than us.

Just made the comment on someone else's post. I think Jesse brought Rodrigo on just to see if the can play together as a front 3. They've played in a 4-2-3-1 with Rodrigo as AMR or AMC and it hasn't really worked. But in a 4-3-3, I can see them working together.

He's cup tied. He played against Cardiff.

It had some good play from our clearly superior players.

Certainly wasn't a tactical masterclass and a better side scores a few against us today.

We simply need to work out how to defend better.
Defence was too panicky all day. Maybe it's intentional. He likes chaos in attack. Maybe the same is true in defence.

Makes a change from losing to Crawley etc etc though.
Hopefully a home tie next.
No surprise to see Marsch get more abuse for winning against Accrington than a certain someone got for losing to Crawley ;-)

I was at three of those matches, add Rochdale & Histon to that list.

We have a far better squad now, the problem is soon as a coach rests half the team, they lose flow & continuity of their game & end up playing like a bunch of strangers.

There were plusses today.

They should do the draw during the transfer deadline show. Might break up all the bollox.

These are the type of games were you need to play "ugly" to win; tight stadium, hoofing and lunging tackles.

Don't remind of Crawley.

We handed them the next round from the onset. Not Bielsa's best hour!

Agree. Would have likes tom see him switch it up against lower opposition. But he probably wanted to use this as a training match on his system.

Exactly. Glad we took today seriously for a change and put out a strong team.

Plus Sini, Bamford and Rutter all got important minutes.

Enough about the ref, what about the players

I've only talked about the players. Nothing about the ref yet.

The ref was poor

I quit voting on Rate the Ref. It's a slag session, very unobjective. Usually refs only get good ratings based on how well they favoured our team rather than overall performance. I'll say he was poor here. But don't participate in that thread.

Fair comment mate, I'd like more to be involved and discuss the ref, but as you say most just vote and leave, I purposely leave my vote till the end hoping I don't influence others, but recently a few voters have got involve in short chats, so work in progress

Such a clever player. Boy have we missed Paddy
