I would say that in the summer he was given enough tools to be able to do a far better job than he has. He had 3 players bought that were completely at home with the tactics. He'd also got to known the team for a few months and seen what each player could do. He had the summer to decide what tactics to implement and the whole of pre-season to train the players to play that way.

If there were signs of progression and things coming together then you say, yes let's back him, give him a few more tools. The board did that despite there being no signs of progression and alarming signs of regression (7 points from the first 3 matches followed by 11 in the next 16, now 17, matches).

If the board decides that it is better the devil you know well the devil we know has taken 18 points from 20 matches and the devil we know is on course to take us down.


I’m struggling to disagree with you, however I think we needed more strengthening in the summer, we shouldn’t be coming into our 3rd premier league season with Klich and Forshaw being our first midfield options off the bench, I don’t see many other managers having us be more than 4-6 points better off with the squad and injury issues he had at the time.

I think the board saw the Liverpool and Bournemouth results as the signs of progression, it certainly has kept him in the job upto now, and if they did see that as a sign of progression I’m pretty sure as soon as the WC came around, they would have been working behind the scenes to get Armas in and identify transfer targets and start preliminary talks with those targets.

For me it depends on what options are out there, I don’t see the likes of gerrard or lampard getting more out of the squad than Marsch, if there’s someone out there that’s experienced a step up in quality, wants to come and is attainable then I say go for it, but I don’t know if there’s anyone out there.

I would like to think that they know who is replacing JM and have confirmed it to some extent. But they may also have worried how toxic ER would be on Wednesday if things go from really, really, really bad to the catastrophic. Once the fans turn the outcome is inevitable.

Had to go and it should have been done earlier. With the signings over January it may be the only bonus that he did stay on.

Really big call coming up now as this can only be done once between now and survival/relegation.

Sounds a bit similar to my emotional connection with the Boston Red Sox since taking in a match the year before they finally broke the curse. Was hooked since then. No real sense to me continuing to support them or at times staying up till the small hours to watch their games but that's what supporting a team does to you, rather than just being a glory hunter.

My first three concerns over Marsch were these:

Game one. Refused to sub an obviously injured player) hamstring) at Leicester and made his injury worse.
Game two. Bragged he had a plan for Countiniho which led to him actually scoring a similar goal like we did yesterday.
Game three. Subbed Rodrigo (this after Bamford was subbed at HT) with Koch with 30 mins on the clock and allowed Norwich back into the game. Joffy saved our arses


Even if we do relegate it cant be claimed he would have saved us
