De Zerbi has taken them up to a level that Potter could never reach.

Lots to like about how Brighton are being run.
I'm hearing that Chelsea have poached their chief scout, whether that loss affects their future recruitment, who knows :duno: that information comes from a good friend of 35 years & as a Leeds fan was stood in the Brighton end on Saturday with Solly Marsh's dad who is a big mate of his, Dunk's dad was also stood with seven of them.

There's talent on this club. A lot of it. We have weaknesses, to be sure, but there is a lot of ability here.

What's been frustrating this year is how the whole has been so much less than the sum of the parts. Much as I was a supporter of Jesse's hiring, I have to conclude most of the problem was the coaching. Javi seems to be shoring a few things up and I'm hopeful we can stay up. I look at the teams around us and our front seven are more than a match for any of them once Sinisterra and Rodrigo are up to speed.

I'm still optimistic.
My main argument is the transfer policy: players bought way overpriced and not the positions we really needed to strenghten.
Jesse was the wrong man and Orta must have known that if he has any knowledge of football. Why get a coach who plays a style no other team plays in the PL?? A system not requiring wingers etc. Of course in hindsight 20/20. But they sacked him way too late when 90% of all people knew he was the wrong man. When he came I read through the Salzburg fan forums and 90% said the same thing: a lot of rhetorics, for a short time a good motivator but in regard to football tactics poor and rhetorics getting boring the longer the more. Salzburg simply had a squad way better than the rest of the league no coach could have failed having success. Same with Aaronson...no fans really bemoaning him going. Rutter on the opposite was thought highly of by the Hoffenheim fans but the transfer fee thought to be at the top end.

Whatever...our luck is that there are soo many shyte teams around us this season. I still believe we will go down as we haven`t shown the quality to get 4-5 wins in the remaining games. There will simply be too many must win games and we won`t win all or enough of them. But time will tell...I`m more pessimistic in general, so maybe I`m a bit biased...that`s hoping.

ps: Which 3 teams do you evaluate as being worse than we are? (Your point of having a fully fit squad is valid, but as soon as one player gets back another gets injured it would seem.)

Poached a lot more than that.

When Potter left they took 6 or 7 staff (including there Head of Recruitment)

Didn't stop them finding De Zerbi.

I think Brighton are so well ran it won't make any difference

Brighton fans must be over the moon with the progression of their club.

I'm really impressed, they deserve success.

Anyone saying that we were s**t because we only drew with Brighton, need a reality check...

They are 7th in the league, and let's face it.... At this time of the season teams are where they belong.....

~We are 19th

We done well to get a draw............ even at home
Hopelessly lost.................. But making good time

As I said earlier Hector, Brighton are the best team I've seen at ER this season, a nightmare to defend against.

Problem is too many people just complain and look for faults as its easy to do. They tend to get a dislike for a particular player, manager or style of play and just cant see anything good. They just keep rolling out the same old negative messages all the time. Of course we are not as good as we should be or hoped to be but there are some things that are improving. All we can do is hope things come together and we get ourselves out of this mess and live to fight another day.
Can we, will we do that, its anyone's guess at the minute.

My question was who we are superior to.
Forest, Leicester and the Bournemouth will be the games defining our season
I dare to predict. Are we better than those 3 teams? With a fully fit squad maybe,
but not very much if at all.
But in such 6 pointers anything can happen. So better or not seems rather insignificant
to me. More relevant if you turn up on the day or you don`t...if you get lucky or not.

Still remain not very confident we will stay up.

I’d add Palace to that list. Worst Prem form of late. And one of the worst squads on paper to start the season. Sinking like a rock for a reason. Their Wednesday fixture against Brighton is going to be telling…

We've won fewer games than any other club in the PL so far this season.

Villa in 11th have won twice as many games. And presumably after nearly 3 seasons in the PL that's the kind of league position we might be expecting by now. The fact is that the recruitment has been abysmal since we were promoted - we are on our third manager, yet the real culprit stays in his job.

We likely don't have the correct professionals in place at the top to put all the other necessary pieces in place.

It's all mad and random stuff.

One time they go out and get a top coach in Bielsa, but try and run things on a shoestring in the toughest league in the world.

When things were going wrong with Bielsa they wait until we're getting rinsed every week and take action. But they appoint a real gamble in Marsch, whose appointment looks to have been heavily influenced by Orta.

In what crazy brain would it make logical sense to go from Bielsa to Marsch in the midst of a relegation battle? That's an Adolf Hitler sat in his bunker waiting for the Russians to kick down the door school of thinking 🤔

All of it smacks of a lack of experience and professionalism at the top, and because of that Radz and Kinnear are way too easily influenced by the clown Orta. His fingerprints are all over the way our club is being run.

For every Wober and Gnonto, we have a Dan James, or a Georginio Rutter, over the odds desperation transfers. And those big financial errors then limit our ability in the transfer market. That's all gonna play itself out in due course.

Me too, been saying it for a while, the problem is, we can't get that convincing 2 wins in a row, we struggled to beat southampton.
palace, forest & wolves are games we need to win, then chip in with a few draws elsewhere, it will be tight, very tight, palace and southampton have tough games midweek then at the weekend, we simply must beat wolves who are playing a lot better of late, not losing is imperative, but we really need the win.

Wolves will be very difficult, they were unfortunate to lose at Newcastle and will certainly be looking for 3 points against us. I'd be happy with 7 points from wolves, forest & Leicester and tbh a win at Bournemouth would be a surprise, there's something about them I just think they'll sneak out of it and the likes of Leicester, palace and forest might just be edged out .

Need to get after Wolves, but ensure that we don’t pull a Marsch and leave ourselves vulnerable in the back and drop all three points. Big game for Ayling, who might be improved simply by virtue of having Harrison covering for him (fully expect Summerville to be dropped for Gnonto). Really curious to see what tactics Javi has in mind to try and secure the three.

Can't see it being high scoring either but, if both teams concede both will probably fight to win.

I ask myself what the deal is with the 49ers staying up or getting relegated. All very unclear.

Dont think anyone knows 100% what will be the outcome of that. Guess we will just have to wait and see. Im sure a few people will say they know exactly what's going to happen but i wouldnt bet any money on that
