I feel so much better after reading that. Thanks. Forest on Sunday is one Leeds really need to win. Win that and squad confidence could grow. MOT

The big problem with Everton wasn’t just Lampard. It was mainly the board & the toxic environment surrounding the club. Witness players returning home scared for their lives as the mob descended. “Lad Lad Lad”. I don’t remember reading anything about a big player rebellion against Fwank. I just wonder how much difference Dyche will make , hopefully not a lot as there’s been plenty of improvement in teams like Forest & especially Southampton to suggest stumbling to safety isn’t an option this year

Could see them signing people like Andre Ayew and Isco.

Isco is a big name still and would placate the fans a bit.

Still decent players on there day

After all the stuff going on at Everton if they don’t go down this season then unfortunately they never will.
Despite only been 3 points ahead it’s rather harmonious at Leeds at the minute after the FA cup break and good transfer window. Think that will all evaporate fast if we lose on Sunday though

Forest signed 7
According to my records, Forest have signed 5 players in the January window.

Have I missed a couple?

weasel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 9:08 am Interesting that Bielsa would have commited to longer than a simple 1 year deal with Everton and was presumably happy to stay working in this country. Blows smoke up the ar$es of all those, including Orta, who suggested that Bielsa was definitely leaving at the end of the 2021-2022 regardless of whether we stayed up or went down. Would appear, on the face of it, that if he'd stayed with us and we went down that he would have been happy to stick around and bring us back up.

Given how poor Lampard is a manager the fact that thet are just 3 points behind us is a huge concern. Is Dyche as a manager worth 3 more points than Lampard over a season witht he same players? My guess would be yes. Everton I feel have enough players, if they can keep kep players like Calvert-Lewin fit, to be a half decent side. They have a decent keeper and decent defenders, 3 of which Dyche knows really well, so I can see him organising the defence a lot better than Lampard did. Midfield is probably a bit patchy but if they bypass that then it is less of a problem. Calvert-Lewin up front is good enough to score enough goals to give them a chance to stay up and you also have Gray chipping in with a few.

They may not have made the flashy signings but I feel there is enough there for Dyche to work with. Also in some ways the tough initial fixture list may work in his favour as they aren't really expecte to beat Arsenal and Liverpool so it gives him a bit of time to get them used to how he wants them to play. As such they then might be acclimatised by the time the winnable fixtures come around.

They don't have to suddenly become great but last year they were able to beat the likes of Chelsea and Man U at home late on in the season when the pressure was on. That experience could be invaluable too.

Whereas we limped over the line, aided enormously by Burnley losing their last match when it was in their hands. We have added a few players since then but none of them are experienced in fighting relegation. Roca, played for Barce and Munich, all the RB lads have been used to being top of the league in Austria or comfortably upper half with Leipzig, Rutter from a comfortably mid table German side, McKennis from title chasers Juventus, Gnonto fromt itle chasers Zurich. If we get sucked into the relegation places wil our heads go down? Can we scrap our way out of it if our football is ineffective?

Make no bones about it in a couple of weeks we could really be in trouble.
Bert even showing the slightest bit of interest in the EFC post, confirmed everything i always thought was his plan with us from day one.

He really wants to show the Peps of this world how you do it from nothing and with shite bob standard players if he has to, like starting from ground zero, i reckon he got to one third of where he wanted to take us, if he'd have known what he'd be up against with the clown, i don't think he'd have even bothered coming here in the first place.

Just wanting to go in at EFC and start with the reserves speaks volumes in itself to me, i just wish he could find a club that would just give him the keys to everything and sit back and leave him to it all, EFC would've been absolutely ideal for that.

He showed he's prepared to come back though, so he's got something on his mind.

My guess - to stick it right up Orta, in the best way he knows how.......Football.

Scarpa is the missing one. No mention of this signing on the BBC transfer site during January.

Signed on the first day of the January apparently.

Thank you

Indeed the toxic situation helps absolutely no one but the point I was making is that I think we'd all agree Dyche is a better manager than Lampard. Would you say that over 20 matches with the same team and players and playing against the same opposition that Dyche would get 3 more points than Lampard? I think most of us would probably feel he would. As such if he'd been in charge since the start of the season then that would probably have seen Everton at least on equal points as us. As such I wouldn't rule out Everton catching us up unless we show an improvement on what we have done so far this season.

Everton have got a manager that should make them better. Wolves have too. That makes it very tight at the bottom. West Ham you would expect to comfortably have enough to survive especially now Bowen and Antonio are both scoring again.

I’m just hoping for the best. Dyche certainly has the experience for a dog fight. Maybe Marsch will surprise us all, after all he is a footballing pioneer.
Like you say the teams that we started to think were doomed are fighting back, especially Southampton.
Beat Forest Sunday and things will look slightly better. No pushover though.

weasel wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:18 pm No surprise players didn't want to go to Everton after seeing those toxic interactions between players and 'fans' the other week. No way would you want to move your family there.

That said their most important deicision, to change from Lampard to Dyche, may be enough to save them. We may have done the opposite, signed a few players but kept hold of the 1 person most responsible for our poor results.

They have the accounts, FA should know the rules, get them charged and an appeal thrown out by the end of the season. If they don’t do that there will be hell on from those who do go down.

Even if they did, Everton would appeal and appeal and appeal. Next season would probably be starting with court cases still going in.

As you say, no chance of points deducted this season.
