here is what I don't really understand and it is rather confusing. Some fans are saying that the Gnonto is rubbish. Marsch said not ready for the premiership neglected by Gracia and Allardyce. played 24 games and only scored 2 goals.
If he is so rubbish why are we asking 35 million for him?

They should let him go to Everton as punishment.

Exactly if we were still In the premier League, we would be looking at 40 million minimum but this club have been run by idiots, with no ambition, we are now paying the price now not only in terms of money , but In terms of players who want to leave at the earliest opportunitySean_Nile wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 6:34 pm here is what I don't really understand and it is rather confusing. But he isn't the world beater some say
You price players based on "potential" as well.
Gordon wasn't worth £45mil
Livramento isn't worth £40mil
Lavia isn't worth £60mil.
But you charge on the possibility they may be.

Perhaps fans are aggrieved by the way he is trying to arrange his transfer, and since their feelings have been hurt, they lash out and belittle his contributions, yet at the same time they demand a huge fee if he goes.
This defies logic to hold two positions at the same time... namely that he is rubbish but we want a lot of money for him.
From what I have seen is that he is an exciting international player who has a lot of potential and we should capitalise on that. Any denigration devalues our asset.

Reality is we will go through this scenario plenty of times , with any player who as ability or potential , Archie gray as an affiliation with this club , but it it won't make any difference, local lads will still want to play at the top level and enhance their careers that's the way of football now Eddie gray played all his career here but we were a top side then
The money there is around today wasn't there back them , the loyalty factor is long gone unless you can offer your best players the chance to win trophies and increase their bank balances significantly, we ain't gonna keep em stuck in this league indefinitely

Not sure an interested club will care what the Leeds fans think. I doubt that’s part of their criteria for selecting targets. What may dissuade them is a particular individuals attitude when faced with something he couldn’t have or at least at that particular time he couldn’t have.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 7:11 pm Perhaps fans are aggrieved by the way he is trying to arrange his transfer, and since their feelings have been hurt, they lash out and belittle his contributions, yet at the same time they demand a huge fee if he goes.

Ask yourself a simple question “why are bottom of the league Everton who have almost immeasurable financial difficulties the only team bidding for Gnonto”. Isn’t this surprising given your reasonable assessment of his abilities/potential.
Hopefully we get maximum wedge for him or better still he knuckles down and proves how good he could be
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

Players get sold all the time for far more than they are truly worth as I showed in my last post.
The market is massively inflated.
Gnonto did ok and as a teenager it makes it better because he has room to improve in theory.
So you don't price him the same way you price say Jack Harrison or another player in their prime.
You price them on their current but also potential future self based on the current market.
Currently players with similar Premier league stats like Anthony Gordon went for over £40mil.
Similarly aged and experienced players like Livramento and Lavia went for £40-60mil.
Are those players based on current performances worth those prices? Absolutely not. Anthony Gordon had 8 goals and 4 assists in 50 games of minutes for Everton, that's pretty rubbish.
Is Gnonto at his current level worth more than £15-20mil? No.
But you take into account the what if scenario, what if in 5 years he is a world beater and you add a percentage based on that.
So we aren't looking at just a price for Willy Gnonto today, we are adding in his future potential price.

Clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle will pay over the odds for a player if they want them because their income stream is massive and are top clubs up there challenging for silverware , Everton are taking advantage of our financial situation and the fact we have been relegated and need the moneyCjay wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 7:43 pm Not really.

Clubs like Leicester and Southampton are not in the same situation and are far more likely to bounce back straight away than Leeds , that's why they can ask for more money or are not forced to sell if clubs wanting their olayers don't meet their asking price
Harrison as only been loaned out not bought and his value if sold wont be as high as gnonto because gnonto is not only better but younger than Harrison as well there is a big difference fella

He is clearly an emerging talent, who will be worth significantly more in 3 years than he is now. But as it stands in 3 years he will still be contracted to Leeds United. So why should we sell him at today’s minimum valuation?Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 6:34 pm here is what I don't really understand and it is rather confusing. He doesn’t subscribe to the side before self mantra, so he shouldn’t be at Leeds, and can f*** off whenever he likes.
But Leeds have the right, legally and morally, to make the very most out of his transfer.
£30m or gtf.

But in reality it won't happen because Leeds want a quick sale and don't want an unhappy player on theiir books for four years
Harrison and the rest who have already left mostly on loan proves leeds can't pay premier League wages stuck in the championship indefinitely
The players are going out but the money in transfer fees ain't coming in , that's why Leeds will sell at a reduced price

They are absolutely screwed financially as the article the other day showed.
I'm no Harrison fan but statistically Gnonto isn't better chap, Harrison creates more chances per game, has a better goal and assist per game ratio in the Premier League as well.
Gnonto will cost more than Harrison because of his age and potential not his current ability.
Clubs want the players Leicester have because they are better players same as Southampton.
Gnonto is wanted by Everton not a top club for the same reason Bournemouth got Adams, top clubs aren't convinced by them.
But we are entitled to price Gnonto as we see fit and based on market value.
Everton don't have to like it neither do you, but clubs use other players as a metric for how they value their own players.
We will be doing that with Gnonto.
Doesn't mean he us worth it, he isn't, same as Gordon going for £10mil less than Raphinha was a disgrace

Gnonto v Harrison: No comparison. Harrison was much more valuable to Leeds last season. Pretty much undroppable. Gnonto was left out many times.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 10:26 pm Everton are in no position to take advantage of anyone's financial position.

Bournemouth can't be downplayed any more. We thought it was a joke when they were chasing Bielsa. But they're making some great moves. Seems like they have good ownership and backing. They might not have the facilities or the support. But they're showing themselves to be a very progressive, forward thinking club.

Until Everton's financial situation is acted upon and is as bad as everyone makes out then it is irrelevant same as saying they will go down every season when it don't happen
Everton s income stream will dwarf what leeds bring in , we are not going to rebuild virtually an entire team overnight
Leeds don't have to accept Everton's offer but I have already explained in previous posts why they will
Even going to Bournemouth or Everton is a step up from been at Leeds , because we simply can't compete with them financially
Harrison's statistics are only better because he as played more games , ability wise gnonto is.a lot better player and prospect
The pricing of raphinia was once again bad business by Leeds , where as Everton milked Newcastle because they knew they had the money and would pay it
It's not about the them two been similar in ability it's about how Everton got a far better deal for Gordon than Leeds did for raphinia
Gnonto, Wilfried
