Yeah, decent performance and good result against a very poor opponent.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 5:00 pm Ok win against a poor Brum side, lets not get carried away folks. But 3 points when teams above us dropped some, so not a bad day after all.
Leicester already run off with one spot, but a good run of wins and we'll have a shout at second.

Good start to the new year.
Birmingham are shite admittedly but it was nice to see things like Rutter at a 10.
Piroe stayed at 9 when he came on
Happy Cjay, well done Farke.
Bamford was immense has to be said and having a more natural 9 helped build the play.
And Firpo really helped the dynamic of the team having a left footer able to deliver first time crosses.
James had a great game and Rodon and Cooper were comfortable.
Only small complaint is thought Kamara was careless at times and still think Ampadu needs a rest (hopefully vs Peterborough). Birmingham were still able to create a chance or two

Some good performances and some good stuff. Should have scored a bucket load in reality.
Putting this game into perspective - Birmingham are shite. So as a sample size where certain fringe players are being feted it is not a realistic game to draw any real conclusions, but plenty of positives. Geo great creativity and he showed the maturity at 10 that was required. He wasn’t attempting a trick every time in possession which illustrates he has the game management necessary to control play.
A much needed win, clean sheet and lots of minutes for squad players.
I notice the WTF post when Cooper puts it out, without eyes in the back of his head or a call from the keeper he did the right thing.

A good performance against a really poor team but you can only play what's in front of you.
My only moan was we were over elaborate at times, someone have a dig for f**k sake.
A very good performance from Firpo although to be fair, he wasn't put under any pressure defensively. Looks like he'll be in for a while now as Byram picks up yet another injury.
And credit to the Brum commentators they were never biased at any point, the complete opposite to the Blackburn duo.

Re: Leeds Utd v Birmingham City Match Thread
Two assists right enough but he was given to wandering all over the pitch and chasing the ball like a headless chicken true to form and in a couple of instances showed us all his worth underlining that he has no positional sense and has no idea how to tackle. Poor old Liam Cooper had a devils own job covering the LB area as well as doing his own job. Against a decent side he would have cost us plenty and at least two goals in this game.
BTW I am not a fan........

That's the best game i've seen Firpo play for Leeds, not defensively though, but in his defense, that was in the main coz he got forward.

I thought Firpo did well, good stuff and bad stuff. The first assist had an element of luck as it came off the defenders foot before falling to James, but his second was an intelligent cutback to Cry.PhoenixUnited wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 5:06 pm Two assists right enough but he was given to wandering all over the pitch and chasing the ball like a headless chicken true to form and in a couple of instances showed us all his worth underlining that he has no positional sense and has no idea how to tackle. Bit of both for me. They were devoid of confidence and they had a few players hiding. Rooney will need a massive turn of fortune to keep his job.ironically for me - Roberts looked like their most positive player when he came on.
