Yes there is that accompanied with that arrogance that comes with mega money no doubt. However, these guys also risk becoming a target due to their wealth - as a gravy train, cash cow, or a way of lining their pocket, securing their future and all manner of other nefarious tricks, cons etc.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 4:27 pm They have women falling at their feet, quite why they have to pursue women who say no seems crazy to me.
As you say, inflated egos etc.

Re: Premier League 25/26 Season
Struggling to see how Walker will fit into a side which will presumably be trying to play defensive. His defensive ability was poor but his pace meant he managed to get back when caught out of position. Now that he has lost his pace he is a liability defensively. Burnley, if they are to have any chance need to be water tight but they have lost Egan (CB) and look like they are losing Trafford too, who will be a huge miss.
Gotta feel sorry for Conor Roberts who looks likes he will once more be shunted, yes shunted, aside after helping Burnley get promoted. Wonder whether he will stick around for a third time?

Millions you'd imagine.
Doubt some Z list celebrity who he knocked up not once but twice behind his wife's back is going to let him off with a few grand.
Edit, looked it up actually and to give you an idea she wanted £30k for wardrobes.
His own fault of course but her demands in the courts were nuts

A bit like Florist a couple of seasons ago - bring in all these players with a hope that they can knit it all together and make it fly. You imagine that some might find the Premiership a big step up. It is a chance promoted teams have to take

It will be interesting to see how it works out, Sunderland do have two men leading their recruitment who have successfully done so in 4 different leagues.PhoenixUnited wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:11 pm A bit like Florist a couple of seasons ago - bring in all these players with a hope that they can knit it all together and make it fly. They clearly know how to build.
Can they do it in this one as well? Hope not.
One downside though is all the new signings could be off to the African Cup of Nations in 2026.

Re: Premier League 25/26 Season
My thinking is that a strong PL all the way down to 20th will give the promoted teams more of a chance of staying up. Or at the very least keep the division tight until the final few months. Last season there were far too many easy points taken from the bottom 3 which meant apart from Wolves no one else felt any pressure or fear of relegation.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:38 pm It will be interesting to see how it works out, Sunderland do have two men leading their recruitment who have successfully done so in 4 different leagues.

The bottom half needs to be competitive. I would assume Spurs & Manure won't be as poor or generous next season.

Sunderland has a lot more work to do with their squad than we do.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:38 pm It will be interesting to see how it works out, Sunderland do have two men leading their recruitment who have successfully done so in 4 different leagues.

Ideally we need around 7 or 8 clubs all within 3 to 4 points of each other come the end of January.
My bottom nine teams in no particular order and the ones we need to be picking up wins against would be;
Leeds
Everton
Wolves
Brentford
Burnley
Fulham
Forest
Palace
Burnley
Also and as we showed last time around against Liverpool for example I feel we can beat anyone on our day.

My gut feeling is we'll finish next season 15th.
Obviously squads have not been finalised yet but I've every faith we'll be making some shrewd signings over the next 7 or 8 weeks.

True but the way we capitulated at home against teams like Bournemouth and Fulham just cannot happen again.
I've deliberately not included the Palace debacle because I'm still of the believe that something happened that day to upset team morale.

Unpredictable season so quite exciting.Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:56 pm My thinking is that a strong PL all the way down to 20th will give the promoted teams more of a chance of staying up. No idea how we will cope.
Will Brentford suffer without Frank?
Will Manure and Spurs be better?
Will Everton and Wolves be as good under their new managers because under them they were nowhere near relegation.
Do think a good start is important.
Your chances of surviving with less than 1ppg after about 6 games statistically is extremely slim.
